Its one of the trainer clones (tower hobbies trainer, alpha trainer, hobbytown trainer, etc). The one I maidened last year was well behaved. Like any other high wing trainer with dihedral, its performance in the wind is dependent on pilot skill and engine power. Put a TT Pro 46 or an OS 46 AX on it and you'll have plenty of power. You will find that the airfoil design gives it less of a tendency to climb with power once its trimmed for straight and level flight at 1/2 throttle (as opposed to the Nexstar or the LT-40), making it (I believe) a little easier to handle in the wind.

I don't own one but have trained several students on this model and have found it to be a good trainer. It flies well in the wind and is very predictable in it's behavior with no surprises. Both the 40 and 60 sizes are good.
The Evolution engine on the RTF is fine and can be used on the ARF or an OS 46AX will be a VERY strong engine for it. The OS engine is more power than it needs but will also be good on future planes. The radio in the RTF is also adequate but is the basic JR Quattro, you may wish a better radio if you get the ARF.

Were you considering the ARF or RTF plane?

The 60 size Alpha RTF flies very well and the supplied Evo .61 is a good engine. I have an Alpha 60 with a .91 four stroke on it that we use as a club trainer. It flies fantastic. I like the 4 stroke on it even better than the Evo .61. It will fly s---l--o---w.

I bought the Aplha 60 RTF for my 13 year-old and myself. No regrets. Great visibility (it's big!), stable in the wind for a trainer, pretty tough - and it helped both of us solo after several lessons! Of course, the radio is somewhat limiting if you stay in the hobby - but you really aren't paying that much for it in the RTF kit.

This will be good for you. Easy to see and very stable. Good in the wind also.

I just started in RC planes this summer, the Alpha 40 was the trainer I chose and have no regrets. Very stable flight, even in some wind, great first plane. I have taken lessons for about 2 months now once a week and am on my own pretty much. I suggest this plane for sure if you are looking at getting into the hobby.
