Default Hello from a newbie

Just wanted to say hi to evereyone. I have been reading this forum for a couple of weeks and decided to join tonight. There is tons of good info here. Hopefully in the coming months, I will learn how to fly with the Volunteer Aeromodelers of Knoxville, TN. Here are some pictures of my plane. Joel's RC site

I've known about the club for years, but have never got up the nerve to try it. They fly just a few miles from my house. I haven't had the opportunity to talk with anyone yet. I will soon though. I suppose I need to join the AMA first before I join a club. Funny thing is, I've had this plane for about 8 years and only flown it once (with help). I'm a chicken.

Its still in one piece, so you must have done something right. Keep practicing, and remember... gravity works. Good luck, Loren

Good to see another E TN flier. I've not been to the VAM field, but I hear they are a great bunch of guys over there. I'm a member of Knox County RC (KCRC)
http://www.rcpattern.net/kcrc/kcrc.htm

We fly out west, off of Pellissippi Parkway. It's a little ways from you, but come out some weekend, there's usually at 5 or so people (more on nice days) on weekend mornings, and almost always a few guys who can train.

Actually that's where I first flew my plane about 8 or so years ago. Haven't flown it since. The retaining collar fell off the nose gear, and the whole assembly was hanging by only the control cable. My buddy that was showing me how to fly managed to land it without doing anything but chewing up the ends of the prop. KCRC is a long way to drive on the weekend. I work off of Dutchtown during the week, so I get my fill of Knoxville traffic. Who knows, I might show up there one weekend.

Joel,

Great job with your plane and welcome to the best rc forum site going.

You will do fine.
Trust your trainer and listen to what they say.
After your first flight you will be hooked.
