"Airplane" Blane Austin's Extreme 3-D Club is comming to one of our local clubs here in Northport Al. and its raining with wind gusts to about 25 mph[&o][:'(] Weather forcasters are saying 60% rain and thunder storms with wind 10 - 20 mph on Friday, Staurday, and Sunday which just happens to be the three days of the flying. I'm still kinda new to this hobby and have never seen, saw, observed, witnessed or what ever this kind of flying. RAIN RAIN PLEASE GO AWAY pretty pretty please

Oh this is easy, hold both arms straight out ,with your left hand grab your right arm just below the elbow ,now with your right hand grab the back of the elbow of your left arm, quickly nod your head and wait for the "boing" sound..then make a wish....whataya got to loose?....Rog

I live in Eastern Nebraska and we were several inches short of what the normal rainfall amount should be. We prayed for rain;now we
have caught up and surpassed our mark. It almost seem sacrilegious to pray for the rain to stop. 8-)

Ken,
Did you escape the sever weather last night? As soon as I got home the tornado sirens went off - radar showed 3 possible points of rotation over Wichita but luckily nothing materialized. Ah, fun and joy of living in Tornado Alley
. No place like it. Now if the 30 mph winds would just stop for the weekend I'll be a happy camper.

We had our two-day club fun fly and the weather was beautiful. Then, five weeks later, we had our club family picnic and the weather was gorgeous. Not sure how it can be explained, as it has rained past the 100 year flood levels since Spring and all through most of the summer. The corn and hay crops were horrible for the poor farmers hereabouts. I don't thnk we've gone three days without rain since April.
No accounting for how we lucked out for our events. Must be someone buried a statue of St. Baal on the airfield or something???

Ah the joys of living in California
I don't bother with such small things as weather forecasts I can do it my self at midnight, warm, sunny and clear, with litle to moderate winds. (Still don't understand how this a great area for windsurfing the wind is never that strong)

We'll take your rain over here! There are around three forest fires right now, and on one of them, the smoke is so bad that whenever there is an onshore wind, it blows the smoke from the fire thats 150 miles away all the way over here! The air index a few days ago was 96, 1 being excellent, 100 being extremely poor. Now its back down to 8 right now thankfully. The smoke caused the sun to be red, and all the mornings and evenings would be really red rather than yellow.

We have had a wet spell here for about 6 weeks now. Not that it rains every day but more often than not, in fact it is raining right now.
Our field is on top of a power company landfill, the cap is designed to not allow water to penetrate. That means when it rains it takes 2 or 3 days for the field to dry out enough to use.
I was able to fly yesterday but with rain forcasted all weekend it will be at least midweek before I can fly again.

Just got in from the fly in. The weather did cooperate sorta. Got to see several of the pros fly. Hal Jenkins was by far the best there today but most of them won't be there until tomorrow. Mr Jenkins was awesome. The things he made a 27% 330 Extra do was beyond me, and he done it in a 20-25 mph gusty wind. The weather is suppose to be a little better tomorrow. I can hardly wait. Proably won't be able to sleep tonight.

I guess I irritated a bunch of farmers or lawn lovers. When it rains and the grass grows I have to pay to have a bunch of apartment complexes mowed. I like the rain to be normal but it doesn't have to rain every day for a week or more and then have one sunny windy day. Sorry if I ruffled your feathers. Just freedom of speech!

Well, it's rare, but we do have to stop flying for weather reasons here too.
Everything was fine today, but the Santa Ana winds are forecast for the weekend. Gusts to 60mph. Guess I won't be flying tomorrow. We had a good run of over 150 consecutive flying days without winds over 20mph.
Earliest likely flying weather will be Monday afternoon....Grrrr!
BTW.....what is 'rain', anyway. I have heard rumors of water from the sky, but that can't be right.

Hogflyer,
All that weather formed up just east of us last night. We didn't get anything but a bunch of wind.

Rain finally moved into our area this week, after months of having it form to the east, north or south and missing us. Raining right now as a matter of fact. Just too late for a lot of native shrubs and trees that have already been permanently damaged, or killed by the drought - or wildfires. On the plus side, I have spent very little time on the riding mower this season - nothing to mow!

I didn't realize it until this year that Indiana had a monsoon season. Everything outside is covered in moss or mushrooms!
Enough with the rain already![&o]

Sorry to here you guys that need rain aren't getting it and you guys that have plenty are getting it. Here in west central Alabama I guess we are doing OK on the rain but we didnt need it this weekend. I just got in from the fly in at Northport and the weather was pretty good. We had about a 10 minute shower that give everyone time to eat a good BBQ lunch. After that it cleared back off and the flying was back on. Blaine Austin and his Extreme 3D club just showed out all day long. I still don't see how an airplane can do the things those guys make them do. I don't think I will ever have the desire to fly 3D but watching it kept my attention without getting bored all day long. I am content just slow flying my big ole slow 60 size trainer around. I would like to throw in a spot for Austin"s 3D bunch here. They all were very professional, informitave and courteous. They took time to talk to kids and adults, explaining their planes, techinques, and maneuvers. They were a very professional bunch. All in all it was a great day

my weather here has been stinky for weeks. just as my field starts to dry out, it starts raining again. more today, the sun showed for an hour or so, I almost got my tractor stuck trying to keep the grass from getting too long to cut. tomorrow should be no rain. just 40mph winds...... and rain on monday.

were FINALLY getting some temp's that are nice and comfy to be out doors in... call it perfect weather temp wise... of course the WIND's came at the same time[:@] Today I started flying in about a 10 MPH steady wind... by the time I called it to windy(DUSTY) I was guessing 20 MPH... I checked The weather channel when I got home...showed 22MPH sustained with gust's up to 27... My Cub needed about 5 foot to take off on the last flight made
It had the tail flying as soon as I put the engine above idle on power up... I swear it took INCHES of roll out for the tail to fly. I took an old Global Freestyle out also... looks like poo but flies so nice in the wind... if the dust was not so bad I would have flown it more than I did[
