the NEXTAR props work pretty good, I have a few extra from the NEXTAR days and use them on my little red sport plane.matching red tips and all.
hey elanasgrumpy glad to see your posting again, of course I should have done my research, I spend enough time on the tower site, I still prefer OS over the tower brand some of my club members love em some hate em.
the NEXTAR sits these days getting dusty, slowly getting stripped of major parts, radio, and engine.
the warbirds have captured my attention, you working on the stang again?
thinking the NEXTAR with a OS 61 and some floats could be the reserection of that plane

I think the stock ones are 11/5 http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXGAK9&P=M the 10/6 would be fine the OS 46 has plenty of power you are better served by a 11" prop 11/5-7 would be a resonable range.

I dont no if I would buy one. I can't get mine to run right and there alot of others with the same problem lots of dead stick landings. Engine dies when coming from WOT to idel. Then your left with A glider. I bought mine in Jan. some time.

Cant wait for this weekend so I get my props and attach my camera and go fly this Bird. It is such a nice flyer. I had a couple crashes but used some epoxy and put here back in the air. And yes try tuning your nexstar. I had similiar problems, that baby needs some tuning and your off to fly with no worrys. I also recommend you change the stock motor mount, its crap.

sounds like some rich running engines, mine did the same thing after about 10 flts take off the limiter and lean the engine out, or get some help from a more expierenced flyer with some tuning knowledge.
its the toughest part of working on your plane, getting the engine dialed in.
after a little leaning out of the low end and a couple of small adjustments my 46 ran like a top.I did get some help with it also from a couple of club members.

I have yet to see a new OS 2 stroke that didn't come from the factory with the idle set TOO rich. They do this to protect the engine from newbies and having them burned up.
Please just get it tuned right and you WILL have a good engine.

So do you think I will get much more power and less speed from the Nexstar stock prop(red tip) compared to my 10x6 Prop. I really hate the props I have, because it has too much speed for me?

the stock props are desined for the plane, your best option is still try somthing diferent if your not liking the ones your using, generally the less the pitch the slower you fly.
lower pitch props have more torque, higher pitch more speed can be atained, of course dia. plays into it, smaller dia.higher RPM's.
I would try the stock one and see what you think.
did you not get a stock prop with the plane?

take all of the gimmicks off. we had a bloke here who got a nexstar and he had all of the gimmicks and nearly lost his plane. the bloke who test flew it for him did a great job to get it down in one peice. {20 yrs flying exsperience} we took off all the gimmicks and it flew good

Hello Everyone!!!
Just bought a Nexstar month ago and im learning to fly with an instructor . Im already have like 18 flights with the plane and the plane seems to fly well without the gimmicks. Im starting to land the plane without a problem but.. Can anyone explain me why the Nexstar have the tendency to go to the right in take off and how can i fix it becuase i have more troubles taking off the plane that landing.

I've seen several, including the one I have, do that. I'm guessing something in one of the factory jigs is slightly out of alignment and all the planes that come out of that particular jig do this. I just learned to live with it and don't worry about it.

Rudder trim. I have a Nexstar thats a complete rebuild. On the maiden, it was trying to turn left on takeoff. I'm used to seeing this from prop torque, so I didn't think much of it. After trimming and landing, I noticed the ailerons trim position was trying to roll the plane to the left. With the dihedral wing, this aileron trim was compensating for rudder! On the next flight, I slowly took out the aileron trim and compensated with rudder. After a few trials, the plane now tracks very nicely on takeoff.
Most of us forget that with the large dihedral wing, the rudder and ailerons are very difficult to distinguish between when trimming. Next time you go up, have your instructor either add right aileron trim or remove left aileron (depending on what you've got set up), and then compensate with left rudder. Just a few clicks at a time and see if this improves your ground handling on takeoff.

Ty for the answer hogflyer and bkdady.
Tomorrow ill go to the field and make some tests about the rudder and alerons to compensate the bank to the right in takeoff. The other option that i have is check the engine mount , maybe i have more degrees than normal in right thrust. What do you think about it?

Rudder and aileron are easier to adjust than engine thrust angle. For a trainer, they're pretty forgiving on engine thrust angle. You're not talking pattern precision anyway.

A couple of washers under the right side of the engine mount worked for mine. Solved the hard pull to the right on take-off, and also the roll-out while trying to do a loop.
Take your plane up and see how it loops both under power, and in a glide with the engine at idle. If it rolls out under power, but tracks straight in a idling glide, then you need to shim the thrust line a bit.

Rockyroad, I agree with the others that have said your engine needs re-tuning. As Bruce said they come from the factory slobbery rich! They fly good like this with the limiter on during break in then it's time to loose the limiter & start leaning it out. You'll probably need to lean out the bottom end too to get that nice reliable idle & transition. I did with mine after about 10 flights. I currently have that same engine in my new Pulse XT & it is great running engine, very reliable. So don't give up on it just get some help tuning it from someone at your club with good experience & you'll be flyin high again![sm=wink_smile.gif]

Hey guys just got my stock props in and hope to have a nice slow flight this time!
Does any one know if it is fine to run the motor hard or should I let some gas burn off, because I got a new cylinder head, I accidently stripped the teeth inside for the glowplug like an idiot, hopefully it wont happen again
.
Thanks

If the motor has prior time on it the new head won't be a factor. If a new motor, break it in as instructed in the manual but shouldn't take more than a few tanks till full power is fine. Always hand start glow plugs into the head and don't over torque them.

Thanks, I learned my lesson now not to over torque the glow plug when screwing it in place. Well I think I will be flying tomarrow, its kinad windy today so I am flying my f27c at the Local Park.
Thanks Again, Have Fun Flying!
