I know that I've said negative about the Nexstar, but please don't mistake what I am saying. My only complaints about it are the pricing. As far as flying goes, it flies just about the same as any other trainer on the market today. If you are training with this plane you will have absolutely no problems hooking up with an instructor and learning to fly with it. I've trained more than I can count on this plane and they all did fine with it.
Please keep us updated on your progress as you learn to fly, and definitely let us know when you solo!!!

Thanks. I hope so. I know it cost a bit more than others, but I kinda had that "all in one" train of thought going.

another thing was the looks of the airframe, when I was a kid I built plenty of flying boxes they fly great, but look like a box with wings, I could afford to get a plane that looked like a real aircraft,so its what I got I was pleasantly surprised I re-soloed after 5-6 flights after some simulator practice and the help of my club members to dial the plane in,and help me with some flight basics I had forgotten, when I first showed up to our field.
I prefer scale planes in general,so for my dollars I like a more scale like outline, with the caveat,my most nimble stunt flyer is a flying box

That was my thought as well. All in one, looks good, comes with a simulator and got free shipping and a $50 discount plus a $20 gift certificate. At least it sounded like a deal. I figured I would put some time in on the simulator while it is cold out and have a bit of a taste for what the real thing would be like once it wamrs up a bit.

the sim is a great way to get some basic orientation skills, and its fun to play with, after starting with the Nextar basic sim I "had to have"
the next level of sim to match the higher skill level planes I was flying.
so I bought a G-3 sim with some of the add-ons and free planes to download from www.knifeedge.com I have too many models, its a great way to keep those skills sharp durring the cold wet months.
funny thing, I really notice little drop off when I have not been able to fly regularly, but still put some sim time in on a semi regular basis.
its no replacement for real time flying, but is a great tool when used properly, reviewing lessons learned at the field and pushing the limits, knowing the reset button is always there to help.
I am allways more agressive on the sim, and alot more cautious with my models when flying at the field, but its helped alot in working out some moves I wouldn't try with a actual model until some practice sessions on the sim, to work out the mechanics, and what some of my limitations are and working through them with some no consequence training

You all are scaring me. I convinced my wife to get me the EP version for Christmas and I hope I made the right decision. I have been dreaming flying an R/C plane since I was 6 years old and when I finnaly get one, I find this thread. Lot of trash talk about this plane, but I see there are plenty of suporters too. I do not expect to use this plance for anything other than "learning to fly", so hopefully I will accomplish that. I am kinda shy and it has taken me some nevre to contact the local club about an instructor. They told me to come on out, but I read on here of one instructor who will not even train someone who has one of these. Hope I have a better experience than that.

bigtim, I suspect I will be doing the same seeing that I work with "computers" for a living. Flyboy, thanks for the vote of confidence on my choice. I may not go through glow fuel, but I may go through some "megawatts" of "juice" if I catch on quick and run with it.
