A few months ago I purchased an older 6 channel transmitter from ebay for cheap and have been researching trying to figure out what I have to buy to get it working. I'll be using the radio for a tank I've been building. I figured I would ask in this forum since it's an aircraft radio.
The radio is a Futaba T6XA. I searched for manuals online and the only one I can find is a 6XA which I would imagine is the same thing. What I'm missing is a receiver and receiver crystal. I have a crystal in the transmitter that is on 50.960 (which they say is 08) Here is a link to the manual.
http://www.futaba-rc.com/manuals/notes-6x.html
It says it came with an R127DF receiver. The problem I'm having is that there are low bands and high bands? Low band says from channels 11-35 and I need 08.....
I found this flight kit.
http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXZW66&P=7
Then if I get this crystal (the 08 crystal) I would be ok correct?
http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...56&FVPROFIL=++
I'm just confused as to all the bands and fequencies and what will work with what. I don't even want the 3003 servos or battery in that flight pack but its the only thing I can find with that receiver in it.
Thanks in advance for the help!
Nick

nickrummy,
The 50mHz band, channels 00 thru 10 are reserved for amatuer radio operators and an amatuer radio license is required. This is one of the pitfalls of buying from where you bought your radio. Not only is it illegal to use the radio without a ham operator's license it is also illegal to change the crystal in the radio without having it retuned.
See this link: http://rcservice.hobbypeople.net/faqs/freqlist.htm.
It will tell you what you need to know.
If there is anyway you can exchange it for another radio tuned to channels 11-60 I would recommend you do so.
Sorry about that, someone else may have another solution.
Regards,
doubledee

when you do get a proper radio for your tank You need a 75 Mhz radio, aircraft radio in the 72 Mhz range is for aircraft use only. 75 Mhz is for ground use.

That was a broke link.... That really sucks! I'm not sure if I can sell it then and get something else or what. Thanks for the clarification!
I can't exchange the transmitter. I bought it without obviously doing enough research. I'll either sell it or get a license I guess. (after I read and see what that would involve.)

Nickrummy,
Sorry to hear what happened with your radio. Hope you can find a way to get a bit of money back out of it. If you are looking for a radio to operate a tank with I would suggest that you check out the RC Tanks forum here on RCU. You can find that forum here: [link]http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/forumid_369/tt.htm[/link] . I know that a lot of the tankers use different type of radios to control the various functions on their vehicles, and they would probably be able to answer your questions better than here.
Hope this helps

Ham licenses aren't nearly as hard to get as they used to be. You only need the lowest ranking license which I think is the Technicial class. It involves mostly learning about electronics and antennas, as well as what bands are for what. Used to be you had to do 6wpm of morse to get ANY ham license.

well they can only change from 72 to 75mhz. he said 50mhz is ok for surface use but you need a ham license. I guess I'll look into it and see what it details. If its to much I guess I'll try and sell it.
