I am looking to get a glow fuel low wing trainer for christmas. I was thinking of the Calmato, Seagull 40 or the Speed air. Are these good choices or is there anything better. I also want to go onto some aerobatics aswell.

Can't go wrong with one of these... So cheep Santa might just get you two.

I endorse Mr67Stang's recomendation, I have flown the Calmato, low wing, the Speed Air, & the Skyraider Mk11, The Calmato is a nice plane, easy to fly, but here in Aus, a bit expensive, around $170.00, The Speed AIr, is a bit too much plane for a low wing trainer, tapered wings, and faster.
The Skyraider Mk 11, is just as nice to fly as the Calmato, but much cheaper, you can use the same motor, a TT46 or OS 46AX, for both of them, & you can buy spare parts, like tail, wings, fuse for the skyraider, if they get damaged.

All good recommendations here, the Calmato Sport by Kyosho is nice and the World Models Sky Raider Mach II is very popular because it is an outstanding value. You might also consider the World Models Super Sport .40 ARF or LA Racer .40 ARF. World Models has several nice choices for a first low-wing aircraft.

When you say Seagull .40, Treacle, do you mean the Seagull Models Spacewalker II .40 ARF or the Seagull Models PC-9 .40 ARF? Both would also be great low-wing trainers. The Hangar 9 Pulse XT is a bit more expensive than the rest of the ARFs mentioned so far, but it would be a nice flyer as well.

Another interesting choice might be the Sportsman Aviation Sport Stik .40 ARF:

Two perenial favorites for most recommended low-wing trainer are the Sig Four Star .40 and the Goldberg Tiger 2. Both are available in either kit or ARF form. The ARF versions are like the Hangar 9 Pulse XT in so far as they're a bit more expensive than the rest of the planes discussed so far. Great Planes makes a really nice kit for a great low-wing trainer called the Rapture .40, it is not available in an ARF, however.

The Sig Fourstar 40, The Goldberg Tiger 2, the Kyosho Calmato Sport 40 and the World Model Super Sport 40 are all amazing low wing trainers!
I opted for the sig myself, but my friends flew a mix of the other ones and I've tried them all!!

Any one of them will do perfect, I personnally preferred the kyosho but it's cover is not very strong...
