The rule of thumb I've heard is that gas becomes more practical than glow somewhere between 40 and 50 cc disp. Smaller that that, the P to W of glow is far superior. (I'm sure ethere is a significant amount of overlap).

Simply put, once you get over 15 lbs, the gas is really your only option. I like DA, some prefer 3W, BME, First Place, Brison, Zenoah, Evolution.....

One thing about gas is that there is no starter or glow igniter needed....just flip the prop. I LOVE THAT!! ...and there is no slimy goop to clean, or in my case, collect every dust particle for a cubic mile.

You have to use a starter on glow engines? All these years I've been starting them wrong!!!

LOL!!!

To be honest, most of my latest planes are started by simply pushing the left stick on the transmitter forward.
