But i see that i don't know how to make the engine run. Can you guys tell me what i need in order for the an engine to run and how will i go about it???

If you get the engine in the link you provided then I hope you realise they're one of the very best engines you can get. Too good to use to learn about how to run them. Get it, put it away, then get a cheapy that won't break the bank if you do something wrong. Just a bit of advice .

What Downunder said....look in the classified section here on RCU for a 40 sized engine to 'practice' on - Or get yourself an OS LA series, don't 'Tinker' with that Rossi.

arent rossi's hard to tune? Anyways thats what i herd that they were hard to tune but was a good race engine....

High performance engines like that Rossie can be hard to set up, yes. Usually because they are more sensitive to needle settings than sport engines. And that Rossie will probably have some very aggressive port timing which makes things worse. But if you are careful with your needle valve adjustments, they aren't really "harder", just more sensitive and "peaky". They also tend to be more sensitive to the fuel system set up than sport engines, so you need to make sure you set up the tank and such correctly.

I agree with what others are saying, start with a more mild-mannered sport engine, and better yet, start with a beginners kit or ARF that has the engineering done for you. Save your design efforts for later.

First, read the instructions that come with the engine. If the engine doesn't have instructions, get one that does.

Your best bet is to find some modelers local to you to get help directly. There are almost certainly people with experience near you.

yes, thanks for replying. I do realize that it so expensive and could be a really good engine, but as some of you mentioned, I will be better off with a cheap engine that works. I totally agrees with this regarding the fact that i'm a total noob.

So are there any tutorials or help that i can get to show me step by step on how to connect all those things to the engine to make it work?

It will be GREAT if a member could show me tutorials or even a video will be awesome.

why don't you see if you can visit them this weekend or another weekend soon. They will be able to give you a lot of personal guidance and answer questions for you too.

As for the second engine choice. You've gone from one extreme to another. This isn't to say it won't fly a plane because it will. It dowsn't have a throttle for one thing though so it is an "all or nothing" type. Many people DO fly this type though. It is considered a 1/2 A engine and there is a separate forum for those and planes for those are smaller and cheaper to build. The radio systems also need to be smaller usually.

Model Airplane News mag offers a book on engine thats one of the best availible. Harry Higley publications ( offered through AMA & others) also sells a book on engines. even the old out daed pub by RCM was ok for learning basics.

Get yourself to the local club and get help. You will be glad you did. If you don't, you will just be throwing money away. We have all seen it a million times before. You will go a lot farther in this hobby learning from people who know what they are doing, and you won't have to reinvent the wheel. Who knows, you may even make some friends.
