been looking for replacement bearing for my OS .46 but all i can get is the 6902ZZ with metal shields on both sides not 6902C3 openbearing and same for the from R6Z the only replacement bearing availble is the R6ZZ. Can i use the 6902ZZ by simply removing the metal shields, same thing with the small one remove one of the shields for the R6Z? thanks

have you checked out these bearing replacement kits specifically for YOUR engine? Correct shield configuration already in place.

Various grades depending on how much you want to spend. The stainless set would be sure to keep the rust out you mentioned in your other thread.

I purchased new bearings from Mcmaster Carr (http://www.mcmaster.com). The front bearing replacement is a standard R6 bearing, and leaving the shielding in place won't hurt.
Part numbers at Mcmaster are
60355K35 Steel Ball BEARING--ABEC-1, Dbl Sealed Bearing No. R6 For 3/8"SHAFT DIA,7/8"OD
5972K144 Steel Ball Bearing, Open Bearing No. 6902 For 15MM Shaft Dia, 28MM Od

G'day Mate,
To answer your question, yes you can & should remove the shields from the large bearing, & the rear shield from the small bearing.
Also, the stainless bearings are definately the way to go, they work great & no rust worries.
Check out the Boca bearing web site, it gives you all the info about removing shields.

Thanks guys, unfortunately im in middle east and i only have access the these commercial bearings. sports or hobby specific would cost me arm and leg to ship here. I guess C3 code is rated for hi speed but i could not get the C3 specs but if the mentioned metal shielded would work i dont mind replacing them one in a while cos they're cheap and easily obtainable.
