Counting down the days

oooh! the time is getting closer
im literaly counting down the days until i can get in the air! (beginning of May) Pretty soon i will be flying my very own airplane! [8D] ive contacted a local club and spoke to the administrator (very nice bloke) and he advised me to come to a meeting and talk to some of the other lads and see if they can share a bit of their experiance with me
NEEEEEEOOOOOWWW!!!!! *THUD*
...trying not to think about the crashing... but im already drawing rings around the pictures in the catalouge choosing my 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th and all other airplanes.
tho theres a few things that have been playing on my mind... maybe you can shed some light on it?
1: ive been playing Microsoft flight simulator for more than 5 years (started out on the classic 98, then bought the 2002 addition when it came out) so i know what all the control surfaces do, how to use them and what will happen if i do use them, ive also been "practicing" on a small free Flight Simulator called FMS, but will that be enough practice? i dont have easy access to any of those fancy TX's that plugs into your computer or those G3 simulator programs so im kind of up a creek without a paddle...
2: i dont have any BMFA membership or whatever it is called and will i need it if i join a club? also there is a Disused airfield about a mile away from me (has been turned into common land so it is open to the public) and i used to go up there a lot with my Nitro trucks, so will i be able to fly there or will i need BMFA membership? its a pretty big airfield about a mile across and 2-3 miles long (i think) so i dont think there will be any complaints about noise
3: The choice of trainers is limited on my side of the pond by the amount of sensibly priced trainers available and my budget. ive narrowed my choice down to a Seagull Boomerang or a Seagull Arising star, ive heard bad things about the weak landing gear on the Boomerang but how much better is the Star?
4: im also limited on radio gear, choosing a fancy computerised radio set such as a Futaba 6EXAP eats up over half my budget, i have been warned about using cheaper radio sets and also have heard of problems with the GWS 6 channel set, so what other alternatives are there besides the Futabas? (under £90 if possible)
5: im also stuck on fuel, my local hobby shop closed down and now my nearest one is about 50 miles away (being 14 i dont have any transport that will willingly take me 50 miles) and that shop doesnt even sell fuel, my local Halfords store only stocks Tornado 16% but this contains 8% oil and isnt suitable for Aircraft use (i figured that out for myself
) so my only other choice is mail order, the best price i can find is for a Quarter gallon of Model Technics Qwikfire 10%, is this a good fuel as i have heard it is c*** in Truck engines
i will probably think of more, but those are just a few questions that i have been thinking about, any advice will be greatly appreciated

I think by the sounds of your posts you live not to far from Newcastle. I'm confused; your info says you live down in Newbury, but canyouDIY that you mention in your other thread is up in Newcastle by me.
If you live up here, I'd be happy to try and help. I only fly electrics, but I'm part of the Newcastle BMFA club and fly at a few sites.

When you talk to the guys in the local club you will be able to find out a lot of these things.
Where to get fuel? They use fuel too. Where do they get theirs? I'm sure you could get one of them to fetch you a gallon now and then if need be.
They will know the laws about where you can fly legally and without complaints.
They will know about LHS's that you don't know about yet.
They will know what radio systems are available in your area and where to get them. May even have a used set for sale at a good price, maybe a plane too.
You don't have to have NEW stuff for your first plane. Sure it's nice but you MUST live with a budget.
I'd get to the first meeting you could. BEFORE making any final decisions.

well ive got my eye on a few nice leccies
what you think of the Hobbyzone Super Cub? maybe that would be a better option? althoguh one con is that it doesnt have a trainer function so once im up in the air i will be in complete control which means i would have to control teh takeoff, flight and landing on my own
