Default muffler cleaning? and Biplane trainer?

Hey Guys, two simple questions.....how do I clean all that gunk off the muffler and do they make a biplane trainer? One day I hope to fly nothing but biplanes but for now it's just my Alpha 40 and me.

I don't know of any but some are easier to fly than others.
I have a modeltech SE5 that is really pretty easy to fly with an OS52 4stroke puttering away.

I have heard that the SIG Hog biplane was another fairly gentle bird.

NOTE: I am posting these links as a reference to the airplane. I do not promote either retailer and have never bought from either one before.

Another vote for the Sig Hob Bipe. It's one of the best behaved Biplanes out there. It's a great bipe to get started on.

Muffler gunk adds character...plus I'm far too lazy to clean it off. Join me!

Do you want a kit or and ARF or and RTF or some kind of mix for your fleet? What engine size(s) are you looking for.

Muffler? Grungy looks good to me, like it's been flown.

When it's a trainer I'd rather go with an ARF. I can build my favorite biplane later but for now if I should crack her up I haven't put all that work into her like building one from a kit. I would like one to take say around a .61 to .90 four stroke with a wing span around 50" inches or less. I only have so much room in my vehical. There are some good ideas here worth looking into....thanks guys!

Guess I'll leave the gunk on the muffler....LOL!

I am building a SIG Hog Bipe, and it is a fairly easy build.

I just solo'd this last weekend, and with some more flights under my belt hope to have the Hog in the air latter this summer.

Take a look in the kit building section, and you will see a Hog Bipe thread. also do a search for Hookedonrc (I think that is his handle) and he had a long thread on building a Hog Bipe.

I hope it flies as well as people say it does.

I saw a person fly one at the field one day and it flew great, but on landing it nosed over onto the engine. I hope moving the landing gear forward a bit will solve that.

A review of the Great Planes Tiger Moth ARF at the AMA's Sport Aviator website suggests that the plane is so easy to fly that it would make the ideal 2nd plane. Most ideal "2nd Planes" could be used to train on if a flight instructor and a buddy box were used. In fact, the Tiger Moth was a primary trainer for three decades, so a good scale model of the Tiger Moth would logically be easy flying and a good R/C trainer.

Oops, forgot to mention that Tower Hobbies lists this ARF as discontinued. There are still plenty of ARFs in stock at local hobby stores.
