White vinegar. You can use other types of vinegar, but they will stain the wood.

Wet the dent and see if it comes up. For a stronger effect apply a covering iron the the damp site.

I wet the area with water, then go over it with a iron, usually one treatment is all that's needed, but after the third time any dent left I'll use a filler then sand smooth.

I'm really not a wood worker as far as building homes and furniture.
But I have built up well over a hundred rifle stocks and repared dents for others who dropped them.I also built many canoes and kayaks.
Steam is your best friend when it comes to sucking out dents..
Sometimes a good soaking in very hot water and letting it dry will work out the deeper dents.

Well, I did not have any viniger in the house, so I tried a little water with my cover iron, and am was totally amazed. Actually, I was so impressed at how it worked, I went around onto every piece and got everything I could out. What a great suggestion! Thanks guys!!
