Default simulator problem

I bought this USB cable to connect my Futaba Tx to use with FMS.

http://cgi.ebay.com/USB-Simulator-Ca...QQcmdZViewItem

When I plug in the USB connector to the computer, it begins blinking rapidly and stays that way. The PC doesn't seem to recognize the new device or ask to install driver etc. Any help on how I can troubleshoot this?

lol $5 for the piece, $15 shipping for a few cables. They really get you.

It finally arrived on a slow boat from Hong Kong. This is the cheapest one I could find. So far, I'm getting what I paid for.

If it is a TRUE "HID" device, Windows XP will pop up a message about a new device found when you plug in the cable.

You must be running XP or greater. Also turn on the TX with the cable plugged in.

Some PPM interconnects require a driver program, such as JRPROPO, etc. to run, and getting these things to work is not trivial.

What is a true "HID" device? I'm grasping at straws here.

Hwlp! My only alternative is to actually get stick time at the field with an instructor.

HID = Human Interface Device

HID is the protocol used for the software interface.

If you find that XP is not recognizing the interface, try going into

Control Panel/Administrative Tools/Services

and START the "HID input service".

Once it's started plug in the interface cable to the USB port on the computer.

Sometimes this will cure the problem.

XP should then recognize the new HID device.

Finally plug in the TX and calibrate the new "joystick" device that XP has detected.

There are many usb simulators avaliable to buy. You might want to try some fo the drivers for them to see if they work. you can just do a google search for usbsimulator and you can find some drivers.

Ya know, there is a forum on RCU that specializes in simulator stuff.

http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/forumid_138/tt.htm

I'd be asking there too.
