Default How to re-attach trim on nexstar?

I have noticed my Nexstar's trim is coming loose. The trim near the front, silver stripe in particular is peeling off, as is some of the elevator trim. what is the best way to reattach it? I am sure some glow fuel residue is on the trim also. should be cleaned?--- Thanks for any help.

I love the smell of buring glue fuel :-)

G'day Stashu,
Yes, all the oil residue needs to be cleaned off, I just use the stuff I clean my plane with, after flying, both the underside of the trim & the base covering.
Use a sealing iron, or household iron, if you don't have anything else, start with the iron cool & slowly get it hotter until the trim sticks, then when it's back down, paint the edges of the trim & any other covering edges, with clear nail polish, it is fuel proof & nearly invisible, & is very cheap & one bottle goes a very long way, & only takes seconds to dry.

I'd use a stapler. Seriously, the trim is crap. Every Nexstar I've seen has peeling trim.

I had a great time learning with my NEXTAR but there is no doubt the covering is junk I am converting mine to a float plane.
once the covering started to peel no matter how much ironing I did, it just kept going untill I had fuel soaking into the wood at the seams the trim just fell off most of the time.

if you don't mind let me know what float system you will use. I still have a trainer and recently joined a field that has a pond/lake to fly off of.

got a set of 60 size Goldberg Superfloats off ebay, and relocated some Hobbico gear forward and used the wire ones supplied for the rear.
some cutting and rebuilding was required to mount the forward gear, but not too much.I used nylon LG bolts to atatch them to a mounting plate
I also went up in engine size with a OS 61fx for that get off the water power.
the floats are covered now, I will do the fuse this afternoon so I should have more pics.the floats were not to expensive but there a kit so you have to build them. tower sells some 60 size floats but I think there like 80$ mine were half that but there's the extra work of const. I also glassed mine before covering with Econocoat.

I'd say let it peek off. It isn't worth the hasle. If you do use nail polish dont do all the edges, just hte corners. Dirt and other crap will stick to the nail polish. If you do need to take the nailpolish like if it drips or something acetone work great.

Danny,
No, the nail polish will dry hard enough and nothing will stick to it. I use nail polish to protect all of the vinyl graphics I use on my planes.
