Default Smoke From Fuel Line When Filling

Yesterday I flew my Fourstar 40 for 12 minutes then refueled right away. I usually reflect on what I accomplished, plan the next flight, and watch others fly. I was alone at the field and it was getting dark so I wanted to get in one more flight.
I have the 2 line tank installation. I removed the lines from the muffler and carb, and began filling her up. When I was pumping the fuel into the carb line "smoke" was coming out of the line to the muffler. I have never seen this before, but I usually don't fill up right away.
Is this normal?

Thanks.

Yep, this is normal. As you probably know, the muffler provides pressure to the tank to provide a positive pressure to the fuel to the engine during engine run time. It is normal for the smoke from the muffler to get into the tank via the pressure tube. I've seen it on occasion, and as you said, when I fuel up immediately after a flight.

Its normal. It like my Nitro Trucks. When I go to refuel, I cant ever tell how far down the fuel is at first, cuz the tank is filled with "smoke." Just in your case, it has to escape from the other line.

rwright142,
As the other have said, this is normal. There is nothing to worry about here.

The only thing I would caution you on is "gettting in ONE MORE FLIGHT." That is tempting fate to really make it the last flight of that air frame.

I just keep saying I am going to fly some more, and leave when I want to make one more flight, so the crash is there for next time.

It's either that or you have some "smokin" hot fuel there.

Thanks guys, you're the best!

ag4ever, I've been bit by that bug too so I am careful not to say it out loud just before the 'one more flight'

....... I am careful not to say it out loud just before the 'one more flight'
That saying has doomed more planes to death than anything else in the history of our hobby!!!

That's why I always say "another flight", even if it's the last flight of the day!!!
