tiger 60 balance point
The balance point on this plane in the book is anywhere from 3 3/4 to 4 3/4 inches. The center of the 2 points would be 4 1/4 inches from the leading edge of the wing. Mine balances at about 4 1/8 from the leading edge. 1/8 of an inch forward of the center of the recommended range.
I'm wondering just where the "better than average" flyer would have his balance point at? In the middle of the balance point or to the rear at 4 3/4?

RE: tiger 60 balance point
G'day Mate,
I would fly it, & see if I like it where it is, if it seems nose heavy, ie, need too much down elevator when inverted, then move it back, only move CG about 1/4" at a time, then keep flying it, & adjusting until you are happy with the way it flys.
Remember, the recomended CG (balance point) is only a guide, YOU, must determine where the best CG is, to suit you flying style.
I just finished a 160 size Katana, & I have the CG where I like it, the CG has a range of 20mm, it is now balaced at 5mm back from the manufacturers recommended range, but that is where it flys best, for ME.

You are probably at a very good starting point. In the range they give you, it should fly safely. Each plane is unique, just a little different, given different motors, radios, batteries, wood used... Just like Alan said, you start with the given point, and move it carefully a little at a time, fly it several times at each setting until you have a feel for how it is handling. Only move it if you feel you can do it safely. You probably know that too far to the rear is a disaster. I love mine, it flies very smoothly. I have the cg set at a point where I can pull back on the throttle, and the plane doesn't waddle in a stall. It stalls very nearly straight forward. If you get too far to the rear with it, you will see what I mean.

RE: tiger 60 balance point
RAC, I am flying my tiger on a .61 and feel it has good power and good aerobatic capabilities,
but after taking it to a contest I felt with the .61 the plane has less vertical than desired. My kit
weighed in at around 7 3/4 pounds. If I were going to upgrade I would go .91 and use the
left stick.

RE: tiger 60 balance point
RACJ , I've got a .91 FX on mine. I think it's a pretty good combo. Might be just a little much but with throttle management it works. It's got unlimited vertical with about 3/4 throttle. It will climb in a knife edge with no modification to the rudder- stock throws and stock length. I've used a 13/8 and a 14/6 APC - can't really tell a whole lot of difference. I have the CG about 1/8 inch back of center. A .75 would probaly be plenty but it's pretty impressive to do about a 3 to 5 foot roll out , stick the nose straight up in the air and watch it go out of sight

ABELL,This is what I really needed;someone who has one. I was hoping it could use the power. Knife edge isn't it's strong point, guess a little extra power helps everything.THANKS,RACJ

RE: tiger 60 balance point
Good luck RAC, just remember to use the left stick. I found that even with a .61 I can be off the ground
in less than 20 feet, and she climbs out fast. Heres the shot of mine, I didn't want it to look like a standard
tiger.

RE: tiger 60 balance point
Abell, What gear did you use for the mains, I have found that with the wing mounted mains I have to bend them
a good amount forward as they are close to the CG, landing is no problem but I have tipped it on takeoff more than
i'd like to admit. I am thinking about going with a G90 on her but that will be after the current project.

http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...&I=LXJ924&P=RF I have an ARF. It come with landing gear block already in place. I just threaded it and used nylon bolt to mount
