I have a hobbico superstar trainer. I did my solo flight and have been flying on my own for a few days. Thats why I didn't ask about trainers, because the next plane I buy will be a step up from a trainer. I do recommend the superstar trainer. It is very easy to fly and I learned with it very quickly. If you go to my pics there is a picture of it on there.

New Jersey - If you don't know what to get for your next plane, then I suggest a shoulder wing plane. My first low-winger was a low-powered Quickie 500 (had an O.S. .28 instead of a screaming 40K RPM rear-exhaust, fire-breathing .40).

If you want to see my planes, check out the gallery link for my site (posted in my sig).

Good job on your solo! How long did it take you?

Here's a shot of Rob soloing his plane. I think we got him soloed in three weeks. He's doing great!

Ill say Robs doing good!,.. considering the approach to that field has 60' trees, a road? and a 4' embankment at the threshold!!!
LOL!!

Yeah getting him to knife edge through the trees on approach took some coaching

Actually, the trees are pretty far back, just a zoom thing there. There is a 2' embankment off the end of the runway but the scary part is the embankment is actually part of the drainage ditch, and it's over 5 feet deep! If your plane goes in, it is tough to get it back out. Fortunately that rarely happens at the field. That is a road back there but it is private access to get to the rest of the field, so only the property owner and club members use it. Nice road for retrieving planes!

I like that Super Star Select 40
It flys well and does loops and rolls very good.
Did you ever have it checked to see how fast it flies?
With that OS 40 engine and a 11X4 prop it will do 45 with no problem.
My Airstrike will do 65 and still fly as slow as 20 MPH.
So far I have not clocked TH new bird with the 46 LX BB ABS engine.
Right now i'm trying to design some sort of coweling for the planes as i'm sure that open gap where the engine sits grabs a lot of air.
I have made one from thin card board and it looks good.
RC is a nice hobby huh?
I do a lot of ham radio operations in the winter and now I have another great hobby for the summer.
But Shad start running at the end of this month then Herring start plus Trout season opens the first weekend of April.
UUhhhhh Boy,
So many hobbies and not enough time.
Ask me why my Sister loves me
I never showed up at the wedding.
The Striped Bass were biting faster then I could bate a hook and I bagged a 22 pounder.
Some Women just don't understand

I really like that trainer. I'm running a 10/6 prop. I've never checked the speed, but it goes pretty good. I went flying today after work. Actually, I snuck out early. I had 5 really good flights. I am getting much better at taking off and landing. I love this hobby.

I think I saw a post where someone said even going to a 10X4 prop will make it fly faster.
I can say for sure the trainer as it comes out of the box will do an easy 35 MPH.
I think I told you i'm working on a nose covering that will reduce a lot of drag.
Also I thing converting it to a tail dragger will keep that big nose wheel out of the way.
It sure grabs a lot of air and robs you of some more speed plus the servo will only be working the rudder.
Less load on that servo.
Can't beat them for the price.
Looks like it's time for you to get an Avistar with a 46 LX engine.
That will do many things for you and keep you more alert.
Have fun pal
PS: Your in WA??
How did you come up with newjersey401

WB
I was wondering, Is this the same plane engine combo that you claimed (on another thread) was capable of speeds reaching 150MPH ?????

I found the following statement in the ARF RTF Forum
There are few Avistar planes pushing close to 150 MPH with the 46 LX BB engine and giving planes that cost a $1,000.00 or mre a good run for the money.

Crashem,

You CAN get an Avistar to go 150 MPH...

All you have to do is get the wing to fall off at 1500 ft. AGL

Of course, it won't go that fast for very long

Now Minnflyer,

If we accept speed estimates based on that type of vertical maneuver then ALL my planes have gone 150MPH at least once!
