Default Carbon Fiber to Wing

Hi,

Can I add carbon fiber to a wing without taking the sheeting off? Can I just pull up the covering and lay down a strip?

Default RE: Carbon Fiber to Wing

That me be easier to answer if we knew what you were working on. I assume you are talking about putting a reinforcement strip between the wing halves where they are joind running chordwise (from front to back). In most cases the two wing halves of an ARF are epoxied together after they have already been covered so the small amount of covering between the halves is pinched in epoxy... Hopefully you will never see that part of the covering again and no you won't get that covering up and back down over a carbon strip. However on most kit built planes the wing halves are epoxied together and then covered. You might get that up and back down over your carbon job? Why may I ask do you feel the need to add the reinfocement and again, what plane are we talking about here?
