ok so im new to this hobby and im not sure if this is the right place to ask this question but my mate got an engine and we dont no what fuel
it uses or even what its called does anyone no what its called or what fuil it takes

That is not a glow engine, it is a vintage diesel model engine. It will require model specific diesel fuel not glow fuel and not diesel fuel from a truck stop.

I know very little about diesels let alone vintage types but if you post in the vintage or engine forums here you will probably find someone to precisely spot exactly what you have.
