Default Gosh Darn it! Please help.

Yesterday I was finishing up by cutting a hole in the side of my Hanger 9 .46 Cub, where the Charging Jack was going to be. My knife slipped and I gashed the whole side of the Fuse. [:@]

I have to Re-cover the right side of the plane so it will look new again... how would you people make that black stripe down the side... would you trace it?

I was so mad... Now it's going to take longer to get my bird in the air and look perfect. My wife doesn't want me to order another fuse, giving me a attitude on how I spend my money... so I have to put up with the headache just to keep her quiet. []

well, you could trace it or manually cut a section out of black monokote/whatever coating your using and just keep taking the sides off until it perfectly/near perfectly bridges the gap in the black line, then take the backing off and stick it on

Just trace the good side and cut another out. If for some reason you can't trace then take measurements (good side) from the length of sides and size of angles in the "lightning bolt" and make another that way. When tracing from the good side, just make sure you trace the outline on the BACK of the covering so it will come out the correct direction. There's no need to order another fuselage for something so small.

Working slow = done faster.

cut the old stripe from the covering if possible then tape it to the black you are planning on using and use it as the pattern to either trace or cut around.if you are using ultrakote you need to apply it with a solvent and not use heat as the shrinkage will cause distortion along a straight line

Working slow= done faster... So true. I'm going to trace the other side, I have extra Piper stickers on hand, so I'm [8D] there. I'll have my wife help me, I have a large cutting board so I can cut straight lines. By the time I'm done... I'll be ready for building kits or ARC's!

When I was cutting the hole, my knife cut too close to round opening in the plywood on the right side... resulting in slicing the Ultra. Later I cut out the whole plywood piece, and got the other one from my spare Fuse that has the Charge Jack hole already cut.

Should I use CA Glue or AP to repair the plywood part on the fuse? CA is lighter... right? Plus I need to fill and sand so my cut won't show when I re-cover.

Man, I was soooo mad when that happened! I guess these nightmares of mine are all learning experiances. Once the repair is done... I guess my plane will be more special to me.

What kind of Solvent would you use? I figured if I had my Iron on a lower setting with a sock I'd be OK?

If the graphic is made out of Monokote you can also use the Windex Method to put it on. [link=http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_603331/anchors_603331/mpage_1/key_flag/anchor/tm.htm#603331]Applying monokote graphics with windex.[/link] Unfortunately this will not work if the graphic is Ultracoat.

LOL, A Brand New Plane with Package Tape!!! [&:] No, I'll take my time with this... I have a Mint Condition Hanger 9 PTS Mustang I fly while I work on this Cub.

I took R/C Ken's suggestion with my engine and my Evo runs fantastic! So I have a ball with my Mustang. My wife is working on the video of me flying the wings off that thing. I'm having her E-mail "Crash Pro" with editing suggestions.

My love however is with J-3 Cubs, I flew the full size one for years... it means a lot to me, so I want it to be perfect that's why my accident is so upsetting.
