I found a recipe (perhaps on this site or deja.com (Rec. model.airplanes) that works well for me. Thanks to the person that shared it with us. 10% Simple green and 90% car windshield washer fluid. Economical but effective and the airplane smells nice on the ride home.

I use the Scrubbing Bubbles in a can and baby wipes. cuts the grease and leaves a nice shine on the monokote and painted cowel and wheel pants. It readly gets into those crevises and cleans the dirt out.
The can fits nicly in my field box.

Baby wipes and shop towels both work great and won't scratch the covering!!

I use a sray bottle filled with rubbing alcohol. It works great. I've seen no adverse affects at all.

The Mrs bought a spray cleaner called "Awesome" at a dollar store. The name says it all - it is awesome! It cleans everything and it smells nice. I bought a "box of rags" from a hardware store. They are soft and do a great job.

I'm shocked nobody has mentioned this. I use windshield washer fluid from the auto store. It works just as well as Windex at a fraction of the cost.

Now I can spend the extra money I saved on more planes! [sm=spinnyeyes.gif]

I use the same thing. The only thing I add is a few squirts of Dawn liquid dishwashing soap to the jug. The Dawn helps break up the oil left on the plane. I've used this mix for about 8 years now and it's worked great for me.

I took RCKens advice and added some Dawn to my windex and it works twice as good.

Thanks Ken

A spray bottle with a strong solution of water + dishwashing fluid.

Spray on then wash off with hot water. [ Yes I take them home dirty ]

A spray bottle with a weak solution of water + dishwashing fluid if I have to clean at the field but it takes longer and leaves me with dirty rags.

I have been using 409, but going to try the windshield washer fluid with some dawn. Heck of alot cheaper.

I tried 409... but it leaves residue and streaks, so I went back to using the Windex.

It depends on if you crash or not,, If I crash real hard,,, I use Lighter fluid and a match, Spotless,, after a couple of minutes no odor at all

If I don't crash,, Windex and paper towels for this kid.. Cheap and cuts the oil, I think after a while it seems to fade the monocote covering though, so I have been looking for a new cleaner, never thought to ask or post it though... Great ideas.. thanks
