A battery load usually doesn't care about polarity although it may display a negative voltage. But ANY power source or charger that is connected to your equipment MUST be correct. I don't think the Triton has a sensing circuit that will detect reverse polarity but it may. YOU must take SOME responsibility. Just make up 2 sets of TX charging leads. Label one for Futaba and the other for JR/Spectrum. A column of smoke is NOT the way to tell you made a mistake.

ORIGINAL: da Rock

BTW, for all the beginners...............

The TritonII is an excellent cycle/charger, does ONE NiCd, NiHM, LiPo, or lead battery at a time. It only works from a big 12V battery. It is $125 right now.
I prefer the ICE charger over the TritonII, though both are somewhat similiar.

The ICE charger has battery cycle histograms, pulse settings, etc. that are not available on the Triton.

I have both version 1 and 2 tritons and use this (http://www.rcplanet.com/Integy_Power..._p/int1278.htm) to supply power. The power supply plugs into the wall and has leads that your alligator clips will attach to, to power your charger. I use both chargers on it and work fine as long as you don't try to draw to many amps from it. I can easily charge 2 reciever packs or a reciever pack and gel cell for my starter. Hope this helps you out.

I guess I should of talked to you guys before I bought the charger although I know I will be happy with it and it is a good charger. I always thought that you could just plug it into the wall and charge away after picking the battery setting. I still find it hard to believe that you can't use the field battery to charge but I'll get used to the idea. I guess that's why I've been concentrating on glo planes. I have two electric planes and I've had bad experiences with both. One seems to be very weak with power, and the other one the speed controller and the AR6100 reciever I had just bought for it got fried for some reason. It melted the front of my plane also.

Thanks for the link nbop. So I can plug that thing into the wall and charge away, yippie! Do you like the Tritons? You must if you bought two huh. I seems like you can never quit buying more stuff that you want for this hobby. The sad part is I've already got a lot of stuff and I still can't fly! In two or so more weeks I should be soloing though! I can't wait, pretty soon. Then I can get some more planes!

Yes, I do like the tritons. I used to race 1\8th scale off road, that's when I started using them and I have yet to have a problem with either one. As for the power supply yes just plug it in and hook your charger to it and your charging.
