My question is someone told me that taking the exhaust restrictor plate out of the muffler would help gain power for better climb out and such, is this true and if so could it damage the engine??

i have taken my out just becuse i put on a oil deflecter on. people were saying that the def make to much psi and bogs the power down, 2 strokes need back psi to run. with the de.... on and the baffle out i have gain speed and power, but the nosie has got louder but i dont care cus it sounds cool

will i have to adjust the high or low speed needle or should it be ok?

Removing the insert lowers backpressure a bit, and at the same time it lowers muffler to fuel tank pressure while increasing noise.

Some are reporting gaining as much as 300-400 RPM this way.

I compromised and remove the round insert, then drill out the stamped holes, and finally sanded off all of the filings, and cleaned the insert before re-installing it.

so will just removing it all together cause the engine to not run correctly or anything.

i did have to adjust it a little bit. the way you get it out is take the nut off the back of it, then take out the flat head srew in fornt of it out, the just pull the muffer apart and take a small srewdriver and pop out the baffle and put back together and red locktight with the bolt. you can also change the direction of the exhust now to

Some, many, communities have ordinances against excessive noise. Our club will not permit removal of the baffles from mufflers. We just don't want to lose our flying field. The area is owned by the state and I am sure that if complaints come in about noisy aircraft flying overhead, they will cut us off.

Why is it, then, are those low-riders with three foot wide woofer speakers get away with what they do? And, while on the subject of noise, think about that harley chopper that went by you without any mufflers at all. But, we RC'ers have to tow the line.

Just consider the noise issue before you start pulling out those baffles. It just ain't worth 300 RPM gains.

where i fly in about 20 minutes outside of town at a friends house that sets about a quarter mile off the road on about 60 acres and there is no one close for about a mile so im sure if they that the noise wont bother anyone except the squirrels
