So....
with the hoard of catalogues that come in the newspapers in order for fathers day there came a calaloge from a toy shop that was stocking really cheap rc stuff up untill christmas (planes and cars nitro and electric) and while looking through it i found a 40 size trainer, as follows...
Typical 40 size trainer (just about identical to a nexstar 40) plane fully built only radio + engine installment needed
OS LA 46 MAX
4 Chanel Hitec Radio
All servos
All pretty much everything but the fuel and starter...
and best of all (i think) this set cost $399!!!
so for 400 bucks (AUD) is this a good buy? i think so.
Any one have any opinions or thoughts?

That's the $20.00 more than the price of a NextStar, $100.00 more than a Hangar 9 Alpha 40 RTF, and $150.00 more than the Tower Trainer RTF. You do the math, but it doesn't sound like much of a deal to me.

if its an ARF and you can inspect it prior to purchase and 20.00 is less than tower to ship the equal??? BUT beware if its someones first built kit and double beware if its been "fixxed". so if its all truely new might be OK.

Gentlemen ,first off let me point out that DIYMark is in Australia , so the dollar value is different. I have done research here in Australia , and the price he quotes is comparable to all other reputable trainers available here. To purchase from Tower he would have to add import duties and postage costs , making it dearer still. So Mark if you can get more details on what model it is , i feel you have a go there . So if modelling is in your mind for a new hobby , go for it, but remember it is addictive as well as being the best hobby in the world .

well here is the add as it was in the catalogue:
CLASSIC 40 AIRCRAFT TRAINER PACKAGE
Australias most popular R/CAircraft. Fully Constructed
and coloured. Include famous OS MAX 46 LA engine and
Hitec 4 Channel Radio with 4 servos. Miniumum time
required to install eninge and radio. The easiest to fly
trainer on the market.
the add also mentiones 35 dollars off rrp...
however that engine is worth $100 alone so the plane is most likley a bit cheapish and possibly the radio...

oh yea there is no specification as to what plane it is but it looks to be just like a typical 40 trainer but of the "cowless" type, 2 sections of ply just run along side the plane for some cover of the engine.
