Default Stall Strips - please reply

How do you make stall strips (for firebird freedom because of wingtip stalls) out of balsa wood? Where do you put them? Thanks in advance.

Not sure this would work on a Firebird but on a full scale they use a small strip (usually triangular to avoid a sharp edge) and run it along the leading edge root toward the tip. It must be carefully placed. When the wing reaches a predetermined AOA the strip breaks the laminar airflow near the root area leaving the tip area flowing smoothly. Thus the root stalls and the tip doesn't. Moving the strips up/down (vertically) on the leading edge adjust the stall points.

Learn to fly at the plane's flying speed, don't get too slow.

Thanks. I'll post something in the aerodynamics forum. I'm new to planes so all this is a bit confusing.

I think you'll find that flying above the stall speed is the answer to your problem....stall strip or not get to slow and it's still gonna stall.

Stall strips:

This should give you the idea of what they are.

Now how about Stall fences?

Well, i know the plane will still stall at any low speed, but my Freedom tends to wingtip stall, which already ate one of my wings.

If you can figure out a way to add some "washout" to the wing it may help.

Use your old wing panel to experiment on.
