Guys, whe I did a search for "best" prop, most threads were for sport planes/3D. How about a reasonable prop for the OS 46 FX on my Hobbico Superstar Trainer? 11x6, 10.5 x 6 (I'm hoping for the 10.5 diameter--more ground clearance to avoid prop strikes on the ground)
Thanks!
Thanks!

I am using an 11X6 on a 46FX mounted in a 1/6 scale Cub. I have a friend who uses a 10X6 on his 46FX, but I can't personally vouch for that setup.
I have to disagree about using a Master Airscrew. For my money, I'd go with an APC.

Im with stick Jammer,
For a trainer those black Nylon props are great. You dont really have to worry about breaking your prop and can just concentrate on soloing. Ive had mine for about 4 months and its still looks great. There cheap and you only need about one or two for your entire trainer period.
When you can land without chipping your props then go with more advanced props (wood, APC).

Paul, if you are worried about prop clearance it will not hurt to go with a 10 x 6. If an 11" will work go for a 11 x 5. You don't need speed on a trainer.

If you go with the black props, be sure to put some sort of paint on at least one tip so you will see the prop arc when the engine is running. If not, you may discover that rigid plastic props and fingers don't mix too well. You could end up with a small (or large) skin transplant. I speak from experience. Good luck, Dzl

Greetings,
I started with a 10X7 on my LT-40 with an FX .46.
I switched to 11X5. You get less speed but more thrust. Makes it much easier to land the LT-40 (which likes to float alot).

I like 11x5's on most .46 engines.....I use APC's, but I would probably use a Master Airscrew on a trainer, because they do hold up really well......I don't know if Master Airscrew makes this size however.......might have to go with the 11x6.
