Hi guys,
I got the third flight on my Yak today and for the third time the muffler loosened. On the first time, I used Z-42 blue thread locker. The second time I used Permatex Sleeve Retainer and it loosened again. I was thinking I had not let the retainer properly set, so I took the muffler and cleaned the muffler and threads with acetone. I used the retainer again, letting it properly set, and today for the third time the muffler loosened. This is a Slimline Side-Mounted Pitts on a Saito 1.80. The muffler uses a nut that screws into the engine's exhaust port and that is what is loosening. Mind you, I have tried to tighten that nut as tight as possible each time, but it just keeps loosening despite the thread locker and retainer.
I'm thinking next is red loctite, or silicone gasket maker.
Any suggestions?
Thanks

I've read (but not tried) that two turns of the white teflon tape around the threads might do the trick...

i know this is gonna sound too simple but did you reuse the bolts that came with the engine or the ones with the slimline muffler?they are coming loose from vibration and might be the wrong thread type?i almost always use the blue loc tite brand thread locker and they are stubborn to remove after that stuff sets up.i let mine set for a few hours before i start the engine.

Use a copper washer between the lock nut and head. When tight just use the washer to lock the nut by bendind it over the nut and onto the head.

prop balanced? the best thread locker I've ever found is gel super glue. 1 drop does it...yes you can get the nut back off when needed...make sure the prop is balanced.

heat just cause lacktite to soften .red locktite will do the same when heat is applied just needs to be a higher temp.try everything else suggested first even the nyon type lock nuts or even an interference type lock nut.
