Default Hitec RX/ Futaba TX

Is it ok to use Hitec RX and Futaba TX if I use Futaba crystals in both? Do i need to use a Futaba Tx & RX?

You definitely need to use a Futaba crystal in a Futaba transmitter.

You actually should use a Hitec crystal in a Hitec receiver. I have heard that the receiver crystals are interchangeable between Hitec/Futaba and I have heard that they are not.

And only an authorized shop can change TX crystals legally so they will put in the correct type IF you are changing frequencies. I realize you didn't say you were doing this so I did say IF.

Nope, the crystals need to be the same brand as the equipment that they are going in. You need to make sure that the tx and rx are both set to the same frequency, but they don't need to be the same brand crystal.

You should observe brand names when choosing a crystal and modulation type, frequency shifts, and frequency when picking a RX.

So a futaba tx on 36 w/ Futaba crystal and Hitec RX on 36 with Hitec Crystal is the way to go? I just want to make sure i got this right. If not i might just buy a futaba Rx instead. I was hoping ot save a little with a Hitec. From what I understand - they are great at a savings.

They are one of the best values around. And you can get ones that work with JR or Airtronics.

They are great. And also save you money usually.

And while you're at it, look at their servos. The HS225BB is an example.

That will work....I agree with carrellh But just wanted to add you can use futaba RX crystals in Hitec RX's as well as I do it all the time and have never had an issue ( Thats not to say that I will NEVER have this issue tho) ....Just make sure that you get the proper conversion as well as some rx's are single conversion and some are dual. Theese do make a difference! single conversion crystals will not work in dual conversion rx's and vise versa. Plus like already stated make SURE that it is a negative shift receiver if you use something other than a Futaba or a Hitec. Some receivers will change/shift pulse and will work with all types of Tx's like Berg Rx's...Bergs will work with JR,Futaba,Hitec, etc.....But the Bergs are single conversion "MICRO" and need "MICRO" crystals and work REALLY well. They are also full range Rx's! VERY inexpensive to boot. They are made by Castle Creations.

If you get a Futaba RX, Make sure it is within the band ( High or low band is offered in some Futaba's) This means the lower frequency #'s are low and the higher #'s are the high band.

Channels 11-35 are low band and 36-60 are high band. The FP-R168DF RX is dual band - any of the low/high crystals will work. Likewise the synthesized receivers are dial selectable to any channel, low or high.
