Default Nexstar & Saito 72

Hey guys need some help here. Just bought a nexstar for my son. Put a saito 72 on it cause we had it laying around. From a Funtana Re-kitting on me.

I had a nexstar a few years back an i flew it with an O.S. 46 an it was great with a 11x5 prop. I could fly around at half throttle or a little higher without it being to fast.

Now with this saito i now its a little slower reving engine, i am also limited in prop length. I have a 11x6 an 12x8 prop. Which would be a good starting point. Thanks

I've run a 11 X 8 on my 72 on a 40 size Ultra Stick. Seemed to be just right.

12X6 would be my choice for that engine on that airframe.

Mason man, I have to disagree with some of the advice you have been given. First of all do you have a tach? The Saito 72's that I have will spin a 12x6 or 11x8 way over 10.000 rpm. Check around and I think the majority will advise you to keep the rpm under 10,000 on the ground if you want your engine to last. A 12x8 or 13x6 should work fine.

Yes i have a tach. When the engine was on my X50 with a 13x7 it would do 9600, which was just fine with me. Now i have to use a smaller prop in dia cause this plane does not have much ground ciearance. I may be able to get by with a 12 inch prop. If so the 12x8 would be the one to try?.. With the 11x6 it turns well over 10,000 but i don't let it for long. would an 11x9 put enough of a load on the engine an not let it over rev but still pull it around ok, without turning it in to a rocket?....Thank

went out today with the nextstar. tryedit with the 11x6. at wide open it drug the tail around about a foot under the wing. Not enogh prop. just as i was told. Finally got it on the ground. Put the 12x8 on it an it was a total diffrent plane. half throttle cruzin was great. Thanks for the help guys
