Iam ready to fly my DP Edge 540 but not sure if needs to be balaced inverted or right side up. It does seem to be different and the book says nothing besides start at 6" behind leading edge.

I have just finished and flown my DP 540, it has a BME-44 gas en gine with the tail feathers servo amid ships. I found that it flys best if the CG is 4 3/8" With that CG it flys like a dream. SWC

Once you get comfortable with your plane and how it responds, you may want to try to move the CG a little farther AFT. At least to the recommended CG point. Will filling your tank move the CG?

Just an observation . .
If you need to ask that, then you sound fairly new to flying, and an Edge will be a huge handful.
It might be worthwhile using very low rates on the controls, especially the ailerons and elevator, with high exponentials on each.
Also, make sure you err on the fast side when landing. Bouncing along the runway is a lot better than snapping inverted just before landing!
Just a thought!
Happy landings.

And this is the beginners forum.
If, however, you had been a novice then my misplaced comments would have saved you a few hundred dollars.
I apologize.

I have the same plane, with a DA 50. Balanced it @ 6" per the plans and it was massively tail heavy and nearly re-kitted. Checked DP website, where he now recommends 5" balance point. Flies perfectly a shade back of 5". BTW, I hung it inverted for balancing, by mounting a small ply plate betweent the 2 bottom stringers.
