I want to switch to a Hayes 6oz. tank and want to mount it inside my wing on my profile. I never used a Hayes tank before but like the idea that it's seamless with no cap that can loosen or split the tank. I've had both happen in the past. So can someone draw a diagram or explain the hookup of this tank so I can get an idea of what I am in for, just trying to look ahead with my project. Thanks.

The round metal ring goes over the neck of the tank.
The clunk line goes on the end of the black plug assembly that has the o-ring.
Lubricate the o-ring (vaseline, cooking oil, castor, etc) and the inside of the neck.
Slide the plug/clunk assembly into the tank. The o-ring makes for a tight fit. It takes some force and sometimes a little twisting motion to get it to pop in.
The molded plastic nipple at the top of the tank is for venting or muffler pressure.
The other nipple is the fill line for a 3 line system. It is not drilled all the way through because many people do not use 3 lines. If you need to use it you should drill it open and rinse out the tank before installing the clunk.

The Hayes tank is not set up to lay on its side, which it what you want for an installation inside a wing. The pressure line is molded in at the top of the tank so it will be halfway down if you lay it on its side. It will work, but it wasn't designed for this. You really need a Sullivan or DuBro. The Hayes works best in a vertical mode, like on the side of a prifile.

Thanks, so with this Hayes tank, you just run the pressure line from the muffler to the nipple on the tank and nothing goes inside? I don't have the tank yet, so I don't know what I am dealing with.

I decided to go with a 6oz. Sullivan slant tank, it looks like it will work out perfect. Thanks
