Default will this work?

I am thinkign about buying a pre-made nexstar used from my LHS.

Its all ready except for receiver and transmitter.

Can i use my 6ch JR662 radio?

Better yet, will it be a good enough radio? I bought it like 4 years ago so i dont know if its good enough quality.

Any advice would be great.

The nexstar is an entry level airplane and you JR radio will be more than adequate for it.
Be sure and check the C of G to make sure it is where it is supposed to be after you install your rx and battery.

That JR is one of the best. Have no worries about it.

When you're about to install the battery and RX, check the CG location with them just sitting where you think they should go. If the CG isn't where you want it for the first flights, them move the battery around to set the CG. THEN install it.

Checking the CG while installing always saves you time.

The problem with ANY ARF is that you don't know who made it or how well it was made. []

So before you take out your wallet, open up the AC and look at every nook and cranny, You are looking for all sorts of things, Too Much glue, not enough glue, cracked wood, 2-3 layers of covering, oil soaked wood, missing pieces etc. [X(]

That having been said there are lots of good used AC out there you just have to be sure that you don't get one that has been crashed and recovered 4-5 times. [:'(]

As to the radio - I still have a 10 year old Airtronics that is going strong - no mixing, or bells & whistles BUT it still works great!

Good Luck!

well My LHS bought it AND is trying to sell it, they already inspected it.

IT IS A nitro plane, so i dont understand what batteries your talking about.

And the rx, is that fancy term for receiver?

Your radio came with batteries in the transmitter and a 4 cell pack that is the power source for the airplane (runs the servos and powers the Rx reciever). moving a heavy battery around to achieve balance is the standard way. Adding wieght stinks. Lighter flies better.

rx = receiver
tx transmitter
The receiver uses a 4.8 or 6.0 volt battery pack which can be moved forward or back to balance the model.

Like bbbair said open up the aircraft and look around inside..better yet before you buy stop by your local club and ask a more seasoned flier to come to the LHS with you....buyer beware is the catch pharse here...
besides I can tell from your posts that you really really need an instructor..when you ask someone to go to that LHS with you at the local field perhaps you can get in touch an instructor and be well on your way
Good Luck

If the plane at the LHS doesn't come with a manual you can download one from
http://www.hobbiconexstar.com/nexsta...ct/manual.html
If you've never checked/set the CG on a model before; ask the LHS, or an experienced local modeler, to help you. That way you can learn by doing it, and have an experienced set of eyes watching what you do.
