Hello and Happy Holidays to all,
Posted this here because my son and I are building his first kit. Decided to use Titebond II for most of the gluing on this plane (Tiger 60). Using epoxy as needed in the structural areas. FYI-I have read RCKen's LT 40 build. Lots of good info there. Following the directions, I laminated the parts together for the rear stab using Titebond II. So, now I am supposed to glue the laminated parts with the other stab parts together to build the stab. My question is, how long does the Titebond II need to dry before I can safely handle the laminted parts? I AM NOT TRYING TO SPEED THIS BUILD UP. Just wanting to learn what you experineced guys that use Titebond II do. The bottle says "clamp for 30 minutes" and "Do not stress for joints for 24 hours". So, the way I read that, I can remove the clamps in 30 minutes, but let the parts sit for 24 hours? I realize the temperature and humidity will have an effect on drying time. But just want to get an idea on what you guys do.
Thanks,
Pete

When I use that type of glue, I just wait the 24 hours. I try to find another section to work on in the mean time. Or, just take a break and let my eyes rest by re-reading the build directions for the next few steps. You'll really like that plane, it's one of my favorites to fly. Very predictable, can be fast / quick handling if you start tweaking the controls. It does fly just "plane" nice, once you get used to the size, it will quickly become a favorite. Try to keep your color scheme simple, and as much contrast as you can to distinguish top from bottom.
Good Luck!

You can handle the parts after 30 minutes - just avoid "Stressing" them.
In other words, if you assembled the stab framework, after 30 minutes or so, you could (For example) glue it to the fuse.
However, if it were something like: you just glued the ribs to the Leading Edge, and now you want to bend a piece of sheeting over them (Which would stress the glue joints), I would give it a few hours.

Hey thanks guys for the replys. I/we started building the stab and had to stop after step 3. That was when I laminated the parts together. I have a big enough building board, so I/we started in on the tail and rudder. Same thing with the laminating. Not a problem though, I let the parts dry over night to be sure and then posted the question today. Both sections are starting to come together now. By the way, I went to Home Depot (de Pot, as my friend says), found a 24" wide hollow core door with a gash on one end. The lady marked it down to $10.00. Thanks RCKen, got that idea from you! Where I work, there is a huge supply of vinyl tack board that I covered it with. So far, working great.
Bingo,
This plane is going to be my sons second plane. My wife and I picked this for him because everbody on here that has one seems to really like it. First he wanted top make it with the "MONSTER" drink scheme. I wasn't too exicited about that. Now, he wants to cover it with tiger stripes. I have found a few examples on here for him to look at. I am a few months from that, so he my change his mind, again
. You can see his first covering scheme here: http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_6795892/tm.htm
Thanks again,
Pete
