Default Problem with buddy cord on futaba 7cap

I was trying to set up a buddy box. futaba 6exap for the student and futaba 7CAP for the instructor. Problem is that when you flip the trainer switch on the 7CAP nothing would go to the students tx.. Looked at the manual and I thought I set it according to the instructions. I must be missing something. If We went with both 6exap's then it would work. Thanks

Quick guess, is there a trainer mode inhibit function in either radio? I'll ask this and then start research.

Yep, pg 38 of the 7CAP manual talks about enabling the trainer function. Go there and you should be able to figure it out.

This is common in newer radios for some reason.

Well it seems like I have been there. I must be doing something wrong.

You need to enable the trainer mode and then choose which channels you want the student to be able to control. (if I'm reading it right)

Yep!!! My speed reading caused me to miss one "little" step. It is working OK now. Thanks for all the help. by the way, both of my grandson's got to fly their new planes (first time for both) today off the lake. What a joy to watch them.

Edited so as not to say what I am thinking about that system. Enable trainer? Ok, I guess.

Seems funny that the instruction show turning the trainer off. Then it works.

Yep, ya gotta do that with the DX7 too. Pg 36 of the DX7 manual.
