Default 1st taildragger

Get the Sig 4-Star 40 or 60. Or you can convert a Goldberg Tiger II or Tiger 60 to a taildragger. Both fly great and are easy to build.

I agree! Go with the 4 Star. I think they slow down and land easer than a trainer!!

Four Star or some type of Stick (Ultra Stick, Big Stick, etc.). Or if you are looking for a cheap plane go for a SPAD.

Have a look at the other similar threads, i think Sticks are about the best second plane, also give consideration to converting your trainer to a second plane, build a flat wing and move your LG and hey presto a cheap second plane.

The Super Sportster was my second plane (about 7 years ago) and I loved it. Just bought another one.

I'll modify the landing gear this time though, put on a "Dural" type mounted to the fuse. First one I put the wheel pants up through the wing twice on our grass field. And they really were gentle landings.

First let me state that Low Wing Tail Draggers are not a good choice as a second plane for many people, but if you think you're ready for one, I would suggest the Sig 4*40

Dlmob:

It is easier to move from high wing to mid wing to low wing planes
Also is esier to get into easy planes to build and/or fix (repair)

A wonderful mid plane is certainlly any type of sticks, Great planes have small aileron in comparison to Hangar 9 sticks but you can always regulate the throws so you go through different LEVELS building confidence at a lower cost!

later on you can move in mid wings fun plane types which now a days many companies build and sell.

After that I suggest moving to low wing planes, Short-cut are only for the natural borned fliers... not my personal case, however I learned in steps and today I fly well!

just my tip.

I've got about 10 flights on my second plane, like you I wanted a low-wing tail dragger and once I saw the Great Planes Ultra Sport 40+ there were no other options. I heard lots of good things regarding the 4* planes, but without a bunch of mods, they are a little on the homley side I think.

My US40+ flies very nicley. I've been flying it on low rates with a forward CG, and set up like this is is a gas! Landings are quite easy, although I've got my idle set up too high and it want's to float forever!

This plane is agile enough to allow me to start fooling around with some aerobatics, and unlike my trainer, it does what I tell it too, I just have to be sure that I don't tell it to dig a hole in the runway! I did flip over to high rates for a while today. Snap-rolls are incredible...almost scary fast!

Check out the US40+, I think you may like it!
