I found this forum with a google search
First, I would like to say hello to all.
I am a 15 years old boy from belgium.
I dream to start RC planes and went to a local club in my vicinity this afternoon.
I talked to one of the members about my wishes to learn flying. The guy was very friendly and he said to me that he has a beginer airplane kit home and a engine that he want eventualy sale.
he said this was a great combo to start
because I am totally new to this I really don't know if this guy is fooling me or not, so I will ask you if you don't mind
the plane is to be build it's a american product called "kadett LT"
the engine is a 6.5 CC.
the guy said the engine was second hand but runing fine
He ask 150 euros for the set.
he said the plane is easy to build and that he will help me by coming 2 or 3 times home to give advises and check the crucials parts of the building. He said I don't need a lot of tools.
He sais also that a complete beginer radio equipement for that plane will cost aproximatly 150 euros and that I need aproximatly for 50 euros of tools and glue and finishing material to complete the plane.
May I thrust this man?
is there a crap somewhere?
the total amount of that project represent absolutly all the money I have, so please let me know if this guy is fooling me
thanks a lot

Tough to say if he is honest or not, only you can be the judge of that. Can you get someone elses opinion of the man, or the sale? The Kadet is a fine plane for training though. How much is 150 euros?

While its true that there are jerks in every activity I think you will find an overwhelming majority of modelers will bend over backward to help new folks, particularly younger ones who demonstrate a good attitude. I have given away airplanes and good gear to some folks.
I suspect the gentleman you are talking to is perhaps someone like this especially if he helps you in construction. Just circulate in the club a little and you will soon learn if he is his sincere.
By the way the Kaydet LT 40 either the ARF or kit is an ideal starting airplane.

Pierre,
First, let me say welcome! RC is a wonderful hobby and should bring you great times.
I agree with what's been said so far. The Kadet is a good trainer, and the price this man is asking seems okay.
As someone else mentioned, most people in RC are pretty nice. IF he talked with you about this equipment in front of other club members, I'd say it's okay.
Good luck, and let us know how it goes.
