I just wanted to bring up the young eagles programs for those of you who have kids who are already flying or are interested in flying.
The young eagles sponsors free general aviation flights for kids 8-17 who are interested in aviation. No cost to you, the flight time is donated by the owner of the GA aircraft and the pilot.
They have other programs that do cost money, but are well worth it for kids interested in all sorts of aviation, including radio controlled.
You can find out more at their website, http://www.youngeagles.org/
Take a kid flying today! :-)

Great bunch of people.
We put on a display at an event at one of the airports last summer and EAA was there giving flights, Unfortunately the cloud cover prevented any flying. All of the kids that registered where called when time became available. My 2 youngest daughters got their call and along with another boy got a good long flight.
It was kind of funny. The one daughter that really wasn't interested said she would go as long as her sister went, her sister was all gung ho, after the flight the gung ho sister said "nope never again" the one that wasn't interested was ready togo back up again. Great experience for both of them.

My Feedback: (1)
And a SUPER program it is!
My son took a flight back in October, 2000 in a 1947 Aeronca 7AC Champ (I also got a hop). He was 8 year old. Currently 16, he is actively building and flying both control line and radio control models. He won the junior CL aerobatics contest at the 2006 Sig meet with a Brodak 40 powered Primary Force ARF (his first contest) and is currently wringing out his Mini UltraStick with a Spektrum DX7. He's constantly surfing the web for aviation related information.
Has the "spark" been lit? I certainly hope so!
