Beaver question
Ater designing and building my full scale airplane, a buddy was selling his R/C collection/equipment. Including a nice trainer. I bought it all. Bang I'm right back into it, just like 20 years ago.
Lately I have been building a Sig "Hog" bipe. A nice kit by the way
In the new Model Aviation Magazine I found a DHC-2 Beaver 25e from Horrizon Hobby I really like it but I am not into Electric planes.
I'm suppose it can be converted to "Glow" but I am concernered about the Weight and Balance. My question is; How do I figure out what sized glow engine to install?

About 5 to 6 lbs 68" wingspan plus floats (can't have a beaver without floats 
) I would say minimum 2 stroke would be a 46 size up to about a 61, 4 stroke 60ish to 72.
It appears to be in the 40 size range but you want just that little extra to fly with floats.

Unless you are planning on totally rebuilding the plane, probably not going to happen. This plane was designed for electric, and as such is not designed to handle the intense vibrations you will get from a glo engine. The firewall for instance is about half as thick as it would be for a glo mount. I am currently assembling this plane to hang up in my store, but will use the power 25 motor as I will not be setting it up for floats.

Well here are a coule pictures of my full scale. (I hope they come through) Nothing great. Just a big over grown model. Built from spruce with a lot of 5 ply birtch and mahogany. It has a Rotax 503 engine, Hydralic brakes, with a ground adjustable prop. Not much compared to an RV but I loved doing it and it flies well.
I don't have any pictures of the stuff I bought from my friend but I can take some later on today. The trainer is call a Precedent. About a six ft WS, with a magnum .52 in it I don't know what they call the other one. It's a lot smaller. I got several engines, two futuba computer radios. A 6 channel and a 4 channal. Plus an odd ball in the small plane. I got a couple engines and a buddy box . Also a flight box with a stater, a battery along with a fuel pump, a couple glo igniters and some small things. I thought I made a good buy.

Yes it was. I flew down with another builder Bob Clabaugh. He is also a big RC guy. Bob flew his Dakota Hawk. Small world with this computer. However, I need to be careful about taking up space on this forum. It is, afterall, a model airplane forum not a full size forum. I don't want to cause anyone trouble.
I plan on going to the Nall this year but will drive. It's only about sixty miles. My wife want's to go along.
