I was wondering if the brand of fuel matters?
I have some traxxas 20% nitro fuel for a stadium truck and wanted to see if that would work to use?

Well im going to say no
1)20% is a wast in a trainer way more nitro than you need
2) car fuel has alot less oil 10-12 instead of the 18% we normally run in airplanes
Some say that car fuel has better quality oil so it can be run at lower %. Someone in my club is running there os fx 46 on 30% car fuel and im wondering how things are going to work out.. time will tell i guess...

why not ?
I've done both.
it's not cost effective to run r/c car fuel in .40 size model. But If you have an extra gallon you want to
use. why not ... It's over $30 for a gallon of 20% traxxas.
Burned a half of gallon in my raptor.
I've ran gallons and gallons of 15% aircraft in my savage, tmaxx or rc10
It'll smoke more ..that's for sure
It'll run hotter, so I had to richen it up.
It didn't have the power of the 20%.
I've even mixed it becuase the hoobie shop was closed on sunday.

Because if he is a tiny bit lean the car fuel will fry his engine.

No not enough oil content. You could add some I guess
