So I flew solo for the first time today. I am very excited. I did a couple of buddy box takeoffs, landings, and touch and go's today at the field with my instructor, and after the last landing that I did, he unhooked his cord and said, "Here ya go." I did one nice takeoff and landing, then on my second takeoff attempt, a big wind gust stalled the plane and it fell nose first in the ground. There is some minor repair work to be done, gluing some wood back on and repairing a little section of leading edge, but other than that, all is good.
So I had my first solo flight and my first crash all in the same day about 20 minutes apart. I am a little bummed about the crash, but I am excited to get the plane back in the hangar for repairs and then take it out again!

Now you get to spend all day tomorrow explaining to everybody what that silly little smile on your face is for!!!
Don't worry, it goes away in about 3 weeks.
A solo flight is a great accomplishment and that wins you one genuine RCU ATTABOY (Suitable for framing, wrapping fish, or lining trashcans).

CONGRATS!! And dont feel bad for the ding, at least you had a good excuse! Mine got dinged on landing, and the only excuse I had is poor depth perception.. Easy fix fortunately, im sure yours will be too.
Good job keep flying!!

Yeah, it was not too bad. I had some extra balsa scraps that I remade the leading edge with and I have to get some covering for it tomorrow and then it will be back up in the air.

Went flying again today and I flew all day by myself. It was awesome. I did a bunch of touch and go's to practice landing, and I am getting fairly good at it. I also had a couple of dead sticks that I landed nice and softly. One of them my instructor told me I was not going to make the runway, but I went for it anyways and it was a beautiful landing right down the middle of the runway. And I brought the plane home all in one piece.
Alright other hobbies, move on over, there is a new sheriff in town. I am seriously loving this.
