Default HELP! Glue disaster

Hi guys. I need your help. My 3 year old decided to help me glue some hinges last night when I had my back turned. So now I have CA glue residue all over my beautiful wings. I got most of it off quickly with some debonder. Is there anyway to get the white film from the ca off of covering? It is the Coverite 21st Century fabric covering. Thanks!

That should wipe off with Acetone (Or nail polish remover which contains acetone)

Watch out for the new nailpolish formulation, it doesn't contain acetone.

I use acetone for stubborn spots. Dab a little on a paper towel and run it over the glue. Don't use more than necessary since too much can dull or wipe some color from that covering.

It's amazing how quickly that thin CA dries isn't it?

It may be tougher with the fabric covering because the glue will get into the weave. Good luck.
Gotta love kids......Just think of it as a finishing touch.
Remember, fabric covering can easily be painted, so if you want, paint it.

FYI: CA needs moisture to cure. Sometimes a little drop on the covering won't cure right away. When that happens DONT touch it (you'll introduce moisture). I have a turkey baster that I can suck uncured CA up with. It really does work well for drips.

When I use CA I ALWAYS cover everything but the spot that needs glue with towels.

What I find works very well is this.

Take an old clean rag and put it over the area.

Drop Acetone on it until it is soaked.

Acetone will dissolve the CA over time, but the problem is that Acetone evaporates VERY quickly.

The rag will keep the fumes and liquid closest to the covering from evaporating away.

After 2 or more minutes, wipe the area with a cloth or towel dipped in acetone. The initial application "loosens" the CA but it doesn't remove it.
Wiping will remove SOME of the now loose CA.

Now repeat the whole process.

Usually I need several applications to get rid of everything.

WD40 can be used to eliminate the white haze left on the covering.

I don't think a 3-year old should have any possibility of access to CA glue. What happened is trivial compared to what could have happened to your child.

I was there. She just bumped the wing and knocked the glue over while I was getting a paper towel. I made it sound worse than it was. She was just watching while I was doing it. Plenty of venitlation and she never got any on her. I would never leave it where she could get to it if I wasn't there. I had glued one hinge and turned to get the towel when she bumped the end of the wing. Just frustrating is all. I don't see any glue, got that off immediately with the debonder, just the nasty white residue.
