Default MORE brushless POWER!!!!!!!!!

OK here we go. I am currently running an 18 amp ESC with a Tower 2408 brushless with 2 cell Lipos on my Slow Stick and I just love it. However I would like to step up to a slightly more powerful combo when I complete my GWS Corsair. If possible I will be going to 3 cell power. I am looking for suggestions on my next power setup. And economy is essential. I would also like some opinions concerning geared versus direct systems. Glad to be a member here, I have gotten great advise always.

If you want economy, then electric is not the way to go. The more you add, the more expensive it becomes. 3 cell batteries, over two cell batteries are at least 1/3 more expensive. Then consider the higher capacity esc to provide current for that higher power motor.

$$$$ Cha-ching $$$$

But, if you really want to go to more power, bigger batteries, higher current ESC, consider that you will be adding weight, which means more power than originally thought. And of course, the selection of power sources for that plane will all depend on the weight of the plane and what you intend to do with it. Always consider the old standard of watts per pound for either sport, performance, or 3D operation. The more power you want, the more it will cost.

Get the numbers for the weight and how you want to fly this plane, then come back and ask again. Maybe someone can give you a suggestion for how to power that plane.

You could use the same motor 2408 with a 3 cell 1500-2100mah lipo and a 7x6 prop for the warbird. It will have plenty of pitch speed to fly it.

If you want a better option, use the 2409-18 with 3 cell. More thrust and p/s.

Check out these guys..

www.hobbycity.com

They have some great deals on lipos/motors/ESC's... The lipo prices seem almost to good to be true, but there are a bunch of guys on RCU that say the batteries are great.. Less than 1/2 price of a thunderpower equivalent..

Also, if you want to see how different components will "play" together, check out www.motocalc.com . You can use their program for 30 days for free.. has an incredible database, and it will tell you if your components will work together and where the most limiting factor will be.. If you enter in your aircraft data, it will predict flight performance, static thrust, battery duration.. etc, etc, etc.. Awesome program and worth the 30 dollars if it saves you one fried ESC from a bad choice!
