Default Starting Problems

I'm really new to RC Airplanes. I just got my plane out of storage and I wanted to run a tank of fuel threw it, before I get it in the air. It is a SIG Kadet LT 40. The engine is a Super Tigre 40. I had a real problem getting it to start.
I primed it, but I don't think I did it enough. Once I saw the fuel get to the carb I stopped. Should I have flipped the prop it a few more times once the fuel got to the carb???

If you can see the fuel getting into the carb you can open up the trottle to full power, hold your finger over the carb and prop the engine a couple of times. This will pull the fuel into the engine. You are of course doing this without the glow plug igniter being installed. Once you have done this, reduce your power setting to just a bit over idle, install your glow plug igniter and flip the prop with your chicken stick. Good Luck, Dave

if the engine has been sitting and was running fine when you stored it the glow plug could be gummed up pull it and rinse it in fuel then blow the fuel off the coil and check to see if it burns bright if not then just pop a new one in.
also if there is some gunk in the engine then a electric starter helps with the first few runs, goo that can build up from old fuel residue, old casor oil can really gum the engine up, a couple of runs and it will help clear it out of there.
if after a few tanks and your having trouble running it then a thorough cleaning might be in order, but usually a few tanks of new fuel will help clear out the cobwebbs on a stored engine.

Ok. Thanks for the advise. I never did pull the glow plug out to check it. I will do that the next time I try to start it.

And always be sure that your glow starter is fully charged.
