What temperature reading should I get from the head of a O.S 46AX? 280F?

I used to keep mine to about 230*F - 240*F ... heat is not good for the engine.

240 is might cold for these engines.

I've seen reviews in magazines, which run the engine to 350 or more and suggest a head temp at the plug of around 310.
