Default Landing Gear for a 40 size plane?

I would like to put a set of Carbon Fiber landing gear on my Dolphin 40 (it a Sig 4* knock off).

I can seem to find them on line. A link would be great.

I have seen them on some high end aircraft, but lager models than a 40 size.

Thanks

These aren't carbon fiber but I've had real good luck with them. Dubro # 789 landing gear. Most hobby shops will probably have them, if not go to the Dobro web site and check them out. ENJOY !!! RED

These guys may have something that you could make work:

http://www.tntlandinggear.com/store/...ne_catalog.htm

They have both heavy duty aluminum and CF composite.

I'm Ken of 'hobbyncrafts'. I've been making custom CF gear for over 10 yes. I just checked my stock, and yes, I have a gear in stock for the 4*40.
Please email me direct at: [email protected] if you are intereasted.

How do you measure the dimensions?

My axels are about 3 1/2" from the bottom of the fuse to the axels center. With no weight on it. It sags when sitting ready to fly. ITs kind of a low rider, I dont mind.
The bottom of the fuse is 3 1/4" wide. And the tires center to center about 15" apart.

I need something about 4" from bottom of fuse to center of axle.....(give or take a little) and kinda wide. (wing span is 60 something)

I have not abused the gear, but it seems like its getting lower and lower to the ground. LOL!

Measure the base (width of the fuse where the gear connects), the height (from fuse vertically down to axle, aka landing lenght) and the width between the axles.

I used the Dubro Super Strength Landing Gear. It broke because I drilled too many holes in it, but the composite/fiberglass landing gear is great because it doesn't bend. The gear I used looks great, gives you the height you want, and the width between the wheels.

I have the Dural landing gear coming (should be here by now?) and can tell you how that works on the Dolphin. Again, it's aluminum so it will bend eventually, but not as easy as the stock Dolphin gear.

I think this would be the best, but of course it's the most expensive:

So yes, I got the .60 size Great Planes Dural Landing Gear today. The base of the gear will protrude about 3/16" from each side of the Dolphin, as did the Super Strength composite gear. It is a very small amount, and when installed near the wing you don't notice it, even if you are looking for it. I"m pretty picky about these kinds of things, and it didn't bother me at all, really.

The .40 size gear will not protrude out from the side of the plane, but you will lose 1.5" in wheel base (width).

The Dural landing gear will look great on the plane. It is light weight and much stronger than the stock gear. I'm gonna paint mine white too.

I found some.

http://www.graphtechrc.com/Secure/mall/maingear.asp

The set for the Sig 4* 40 is: 3-1/2" Base / 4-1/8" Total Height / 13-3/4" Spread / 1-1/2" to 1" / 2.2oz.

About an inch short on the width should be fine.

Yeah, but it will look good going down. LOL!

Actualy the plane has lasted longer than I thought it would. I though for sure it would be junk after my first weekend. It survived! Go figure!

I think its a testiment to the airplane itself. It flys so well and lands easy. I thougt for sure I would kill it on landing....but to my suprise it lands easy. My landings look like I have been flying for years with this plane. With my superstar.......It was dicey at times. [X(]

Yeah me too. Every time I fly someone comments about my landings. Dolphin's a breeze, and a joy.

I just painted up the Dural landing gear, gloss white. Looks pretty classy. I'll have to get a pic before I break something else.

I flew my Dolphin today for the first time and my landings weren't the greatest. I want to put the GP alum. gear on. Can you help me with what you did inside the plane to mount the gear? The original blocks for the screws aren't to far apart. should I add some plywood inside towards the rear to mount the new gear????

Thanks,

Ron
