I downloaded the free demo, and it has 4 planes and 2 maps. It uses the keyboard when you download it, but I would like to use a tx with it if possible. I just need to be able to teach my wife the sticks. Do any of you know if you can use a tx with the demo or only the full version? I don't want to go buy a cord for my 6ex or JR and then it not work.

Brett,
I'm not 100% sure, but I don't think you can use a controller with the demo. When the full Real Flight is installed you have to use the controller that comes with the software. If you want to use your own radio with that you have to plug your radio in to the Real Flight controller in order for it to work. There is no way you can plug your own radio directly in to the computer. I'm pretty sure that would apply to the demo as well.

Darn! Do you know if it's possible to get the cheap little sim software that comes with the alpha trainer. I'm gonna give horizon a call to see if I can get it. I got a standard JR that the alpha comes with that I should be able to use with it.

Before I got G4 I just used FMS with a video game controller. It was probably as good as the sim that came with my Alpha (Cockpit Master H9 Edition). The only weird thing with the game controller was that the throttle stick would self-center. Just for getting your stick orientation down, FMS is decent and free.

Thanks Ken, I didn't know that that software was out there. Which controller should I buy a cable for, my 2.4 6ex or JR f400?

Just to assure you, You can not just plug into the G-4 with your RC box, the program was delveloped to have to buy their software, and the control box they supply has the key to using it built into the box, you can plug in your box to the Sim box and it even comes with the cords to do it, But I'm sure that is their way of making sure the discs aren't copied and given to every friend of a flyer. Its expensive alright, but it is a great Simulator.

I downloaded the same demo, and then bought the full version of G4. The transmitter that came with the full version then DID appear in the demo menu Controller/SelectController/Interlink Elite. Hope that helps.

Here is a good, cheap alternative to be used with FMS software that was mentioned above
http://cgi.ebay.com/RC-Flight-Simula...QQcmdZViewItem
now you cant hook up your controller through this but it works....
Otherwise, you'd need a cable to hookup your Transmitter to the computer so it can work with FMS. You will need something like
http://cgi.ebay.com/FMS-Simulator-US...QQcmdZViewItem
IT will work with both JR and Futaba.

Another sim is ClearView $39.99 download off the net that will work with your JR Tx if you buy a cord. They too offer a demo, but only for so many minutes. I think it has better graphics and is a bit more realistic than FMS. FMS is totally free.

There is another way to use your controller but simply using your stereo cable that goes from your sound card to your speakers or any Mono cable. By plugging one end into the JR and other into the Microphone port of the computer. You can then download and configure software to interpret the sound waves emitted by the transmitter into controls
A bit complicated but I found it took a long time to get the sound gains just right so you don't get any other interference. My suggestion would be to try an already build usb cable

Just in case you are interested,
http://www.fsone.com/?utm_source=rcu..._content=fsone
and they say it's "under $100". Which means $99.99. That's sort of saying that gas is NOT $4.00 per gallon at $3.99 9/10 per gallon.

Yeah if you have JR, you can use SmartPro and make a cable yourself. 2 MONO jacks..I guess
There's a link to smartpro on FMS's site..you'll see it on main page.
2 wires for mono jacks...me thinks
There's a diagram and software for different TX...select the one you want ..I guess.
Just makesure the TX is set PPM
If you're brave, you can pop the return off of the throttle stick of a gamepad.
Just dial out the gain in window's gamepad menu.
But just to learn oriantations..FMS is fine.
CRRCsim is also a free ware.
RC Plane Master has a FREE demo..it just stops after every 5 mins.lol
But you just push fly again.lmao
You can also download Preflight DEMO for FREE...no time limit.
but only 2 channels
mmm...yeah i use to just turn controller upside down.
Just to get familar with oriantations. Out of zip file version is fine.lol
I'm posistive there's links to photoistic sceneries up the wazoo for FMS.
Some of them look just like Reflex and Aerofly.lol
I'm also positive there's links to a skybox converter pastes all over FMS's site.lol
