Default Lesson learned the expensive way

Just as an FYI so everyone can learn from my mistake, I have 2 OS 50 sx which I had on my my Nitroplanes Cessna Skymaster. For the last 4 weeks Ive been having nothing but problems with these engines just not running right. No matter what I did these engines just wouldnt idle. Ive had problems with these motors before and assumed that the problems I had were back. After much frustration I decided to just get new motors. 55AX was my choice but as I put them on my plane, the same problem occured. Frustrated I tried a fresh can of fuel from the hobby store and voila, Motors ran great. I tried the new fuel in my both of my 50 sx and they seem to run well now.

I thought that there was no way that my fuel could be the problem with an engine that would not run right but it was. My guess is that storing my fuel in a hot garage for a long period of time, did in my fuel and made it ineffective for use in my motors. Similar problems had been seen in some of my other motors but I just adjusted the motor and all was well. I guess I should have thought that the fuel was bad sooner. So now I have two new 55 AX and two old 50 SX that Im not sure what to do with.

So store your fuel in a cool place.

Was your fuel exposed to air? Unless it is tightly sealed, it will absorb water.

smithth, if you're looking for a little extra cash and a good home for one of the old ones, I might be in the market.... I know the 55AX is WAY out of my pricerange.....
I'm really looking for a .40-.46, but I think I can make a .50 fit w/ a few small mods I don't have alot of cash around these days, but I can assure you that ANY generosity will be appreciated with MONDO Karma

PM me if you're interested

flyboy2, if you're looking to upgrade from the .40 and could use a little cash and a LOAD of good karma, also PM me. That might be right up my alley!

Im gonna hold on to these motors for a little while till I decide what to do with them. Might put both of them in a B25 but I gotta get my wife to buy off on it first.

You could build a R/C - Moller M150 Skycar model! I'll bet two OS .55AX engines would haul a 1/4 scale model of the M150 around pretty good!

That looks like a plane that I would wreck in about a second, that is if someone made one for RC

An Ultra Sport 40 would be an ideal home for one of those 50SX's
