Have you read through the manual?? It explains all the basic functions of this radio and how they will relate to your plane. Since you are setting up a trainer there are no mixes that you should worry about. Simply hook up the 4 basic control functions of a plane, (throttle, aileron, rudder, and elevator), according to the manual and you'll do fine.

I read through the manual and created the basic profile for the Nexstar, I was not sure if some of the default
settings needed to be changed, thanks for your reply,

You should be able to leave all the basic settings as they are. Adjust your control throws on the plane control surfaces mechanically, not with the radio.
