Lost the back of the muffler on the maiden flight.
I have a ASP-75 that lost the back half of the muffler on it's maiden flight. Anyone have any ideas where I might get a muffler to fit it. by the waythe landing was OK. It did keep running.

Macs may make a muffler that'll fit. They are one piece so you won't loose the back half, and many times you'll get a power increase from them. I'm slowly putting them on all my planes. Check Tower to see if they carry one for your engine, or a similar engine if the muffler bolt pattern is the same.

You might be able to find one in the field over which you were flying... real cheap
Sorry, could not resist.
Measure your bolt pattern in milimeters (center to center). Look at Tower Hobbies and see if there are any compatable mufflers.

It's very close to harvest time for corn.
Unfortunately, the way the harvest nowadays only means you absolutely won't be able to find it. Around here they harvest only the corn itself and everything else is blown back onto the ground.

You got that right. Here they leave about 15" of hard stalks to really tear the plane apart. Be glad if they put in beans next year, hay would even be better.

I just hope that it will not end in a can at the market.

Those are just to illustrate a desparate move to cure a recurrent problem. Those are TT .40PRO mufflers That I had heliarc welded.
Used in 424 Q-500 the TT was the mandatory engine and all turned between 16200 and 17000 rpm with an APC 9x6 mandatory prop. This is quite a bit higher than most will run them and it seems they are incapable of retaining the tailcones for any length of time at those vibration levels. At any event it was commom for folks to loose the tailcone and all the usual fixs just did not work. I did these and a ruling was made that the non stock (welded mufflers) could not be used so we used them for all practice and switched to new ones only for the heats.
I am sorry I cannot help with a direct replacement in the US but ASP shares many common parts with magnum and SC so that might be a direction you can explore.

Glad to help. Just read the details before you commit... Such as.
Quoted from TH page I posted for you.
Carefull use of a drill can make it work for you if your engines muffler mounts the other way. ie the threads are on your engine block instead of the muffler.
COMMENTS: Bolt-Through means that the screws go through the engine and
screw into the muffler.

I bought a MACS muffler a while back. It was for an OS 46 but I think they have different bolt patterns for different engines. Give them a try before you decide.

I'm pretty sure RCKen has a way of securing those back 1/2 of mufflers with wire. I'll see if I can dig up the thread where he shows a few pics. Also, I've heard of people using a second nut as a jam nut on the back of the muffler to keep that bugger from coming loose.

The other thing you can do just secures the back half of the muffler so that if it does come loose you won't lose it. Simply use some lacing wire looped around the back half of the muffler and then secured to the rest of the muffler. This one has saved me more than a few times.
The picture shows the lacing wire to secure the back half of the muffler.
